I've just ditched OVO and moved to another supplier - I now have to read my smart meters manually, because the new supplier can't handle them.

NO, you don't have to have smart meters.

    Glad i refused mine !!!

My friend has solar panels and has two smart meters and has had nothing but problems !!!
His bills went UP with the panels !!!

He is switching back to standard digital meters so he can monitor readings/let meter reader read them as usual...

Interested, how do you switch back from SM?

I have filled in the Ovo complaint form to request answers to my questions.

I agreed to have the smart meters installed by Ovo but have been left with dumb meters and with a Smart Gateway that does not work at all.

I have asked Ovo whether they would advise me to move to other supplier to get the smart meter issues sorted.

I really want to know whether a new supplier would replace my smart meters which are in fact dumb meters by smart meters that work. Will your new supplier replace you meters?

No. They don't yet have a smart meter programme. My main objective here was to have a supplier that was 100% renewable for electric and working towards that for the gas.

  • I received so may dropped/nuisance calls from OVO about these Smart Meters that I had to block their number on my phone.

Decided against a Smart Meter because of the issues with no joined up system so the OVO meter might not work if I switched etc, which seems pretty pointless.

I've also seen some discussion online about security issues: effectively if I'm sending information regularly about energy usage then that would flag times the house is unoccupied for holidays etc. I don't yet trust the data protection or level of control I'd have at my end as opposed to the suppliers control.

My Smart Gateway is working at last. And I'm very pleased with the result. Here is an example screenshot showing one bar per hour. The missing bars relate to the times when I am exporting solar power to the national grid.

    It looks good.

Let us know how you get on with the 'Comparisons' because mine is still not working properly and I have had my IHD for ten months now.

Hello, Terry. There is not much data to compare yet, but below yesterday is orange and today is green.

I have just checked my account online and they must have changed the comparison data recently to display like yours. A couple of comparisons failed to load and the My Usage figures compared to last month on the Dashboard are wrong but otherwise they appear to be getting there.
