But it means I never get to do the type of 'Traditional' Christmas (from my childhood) I'd like. In my parents country its hot and sunny and they don't have a Christmas tradition, so while we do swap a gift and have a nicer than average meal, on the day that's about it. Fella's family just treat it as a day off, and sit in front of TV all day, chain smoking and eating microwave meals on lap trays.
Every year I hear people talking about buying their turkey, or what decorations they are having, or whether they will have a 'real' tree, or worrying about how to fit everyone round a table together... and I just wish I could have any of that
Anyway, hugs for everyone who is struggling with this stuff. We need scientists to hurry up and invent time machines so we can all somehow manage the Christmases we want!
Ona nice note, you can still do all the tree decorations, run up to xmas in a way that you want - you will still be there for most of December.Morning ALL!:D

TS, you are not at all selfish. You are still grieving, deeply. Take good care of yourself and I hope things ease for you in time xx
Thanks RN, I think you have hit the nail on the head.
Thank you everyone for the kind words especially VT sharing her Christmas pasts. :A
Maybe I am trying to be too much like my mum, my girls were always so excited to go round Nanny and Grandad's as the presents there were just as exciting as they got at home. I guess they were the lucky ones with me being my parents only one so they didn't have to share their grandparents with anyone else and ultimately would have been spoilt more as cost did not have to spread as far as some families.
Snap-ant can totally empathise with you hun, things got a bit heated here yesterday evening. :eek:0 -

Did I say good morning...I think not...
SO hello.....
frosty and I needed to clear the car before taking kids to school.
Husband not answering his phone...either he had too much to drink at the works party last night or he put it on silent and hasnt changed it...
Cat has bought a santa hat home today....I came downstairs this morning to see her struggling to pull it through the cat flap!
Can't wait to hear what your cat brings home next.
I had a tom cat who was partial to bringing me home presents from a boat yard I lived close to at the time.
He was a funny thing I had to keep any dishcloths, sponges etc hidden in a cupboard at home otherwise he would grab them, often he would sneak as I opened the cupboard door and growl like a little dog as he pulled one out. :rotfl:
Anyway he found a good supply of something similar at the boat yard, this stuff,
Started off bringing brand new big cuts of it home, obviously had found where it was stored, my dad was over the moon for cleaning his car. Would get at least one piece a night if not 2 or 3.
Reckon the yard thought someone was pinching it as these pieces started to get smaller and smaller as they obviously realised it was disappearing fast. :rotfl:
Eventually it must have been locked away as we started to get used bits with fibreglass resin stuck to them. And he would even bring them home soaked in the pouring rain.
One night I was really scared as I could hear something heavy being dragged across the bedroom floor. He had only brought one home with a bloomin heavy paint brush stuck inside. Frightened the life out of me. :rotfl:0 -
