The file gets to the phone OK - via Wireless download - it fails after this point !!

If you use Kies then file gets to PC not phone .
Then via USB to phone .
If you use Odin you download the file to PC then flash it via Odin again via USB to phone .

Define where Kies fails and likewise for OTA update .

Choice take it to a mobile repair shop see if they can flash new firmware .
Or download the firmware and flash via Odin risk of this method if all instructions are followed is almost nil .

I can actually get to the download and it does download the file (OTA) - but after this - it tells me "download error" or similar words !!
It is a 583Mb file - so takes a good time to download !!!
Kies, sometimes allows me to download - with the same result - other times, doesn't even see my phone !!

I have tried 3 different USB cables - including the original

This is the same on 2 different PC's (Win 7 desktop and Win 8.1 laptop)
Anyway OTA gives exactly the same error message - This points towards the phone being at fault..

DO NOT upgrade to Android 5.0 Lollipop.......major problems with it.
My Nexus 5 updated with no problems. A big improvement in many ways.

Hardly likely to find an update for a N7000 Note 1 to Lollipop .

I've just flashed my Nexus 4 with Lollipop using Nexus Root Toolkit. Quite painless really, if you don't mind the time it takes to restore your account and apps. :)
