When do the Insurers check those databases?
Usually at some stage during the policy. Some at the start, some later on.

So regardless if I tell them or not my premium will go up? How is that fair when its a non-fault incident?
Well if you tell them it might go up. If you don't tell them, they may cancel your policy which will mean increased premiums for life.
Insurance premium varies depending on the risk factor. Statistically, once you've been involved in a claim you're a higher risk.

On Price comparison sites there's always a question that says have you made a claim in the past regardless of fault or non-fault? If I click yes to this question my returned quotes will be higher?
They might be. Some companies increase it, other's don't but i don't have a list.

I don't understand how it is fraud? Its my own car I bought with my own money. Its like the insurers own my car and I have a legal responsibility to report incident happened to their property.
It's fraud because if they ask you if you've been in an accident, regardless of fault and you say no then you're obtaining insurance by providing false information.

Aren't insurers committing fraud themselves by raising the premiums of a policy holder after he/she declares a non-fault accident. In fact its not fraud I see it as daylight robbery which is worse than fraud

    No.

They justify it on the basis of actuarial statistics showing that somebody who is involved in one claim - even not-at-fault - is more likely to be involved in another. If you think about it, it makes sense, because people who drive defensively and park sensibly are less likely to be hit.

So I assume him in the following link drove like a idiot risking his own son safety in the car?:

You calling all non-fault drivers rubbish idiots who cant drive? You put your faith in statistics written up by the insurance companies that use it to justify increased premiums falsely. Man you need to wake up to reality seriously.

Like to see the look on your face when one day you get involved in a non-fault accident. You can laugh and reply that you wont be involved in a non-fault accident but you cant guarantee that. If you can guarantee that then you don't need car insurance lol.

You get a quote by info you give them, lying to get it cheaper isn't right.

There's even a tool on this website that lies about job titles when putting them in car insurance application forms to get the quote cheaper. I bet no-one use this tool because everyone is honest like you:A

No, merely explaining how insurance premiums work to someone who has a hard time understanding them.

No one is putting their faith in anything. Merely explaining how insurance premiums are determined to someone who has a hard time understanding it.

The reason you got that reply is because you keep asking questions, getting honest answers then whining at everyone without realising it's not going to change your situation.

Do what you want in regards to disclosing your accident or not, but i've read of several people on here along and numerous other motoring forums who got stung for non disclosure, just don't come back on whining when you get caught and stuck with inflated premiums forever.

  • If you don't like how insurance works, either use millions of pounds to self-insure or don't drive. Those are your options.
I'm paying a higher premium because of a non fault claim, but I just get on with life.
