Then when they find out about it they cancel your insurance. You then have to declare this for ever to all future insurers who will charge you a LOT more than telling them for info will do!

It's also called insurance fraud which I'm sure you know is a serious offence ;)

They wont help at all even though it wasn't my fault. Cant my insurance company pay up and recover the costs from the other insurer?[/QUOTE
You're insured third party, fire and theft only. They would only pay if you had damaged the other car.(Third Party), your car caught fire(fire) or your car was stolen.(Theft)
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

I suppose worst case scenario is them finding out in the future, then declining/cancelling your policy, then you'll be left with limited insurers to choose from at greatly increased premiums.

Yes but how do they find out though?

Because the other party's insurer Churchill shares any data on the claim with shared databases such as CUE and MIAFTR, which all the insurers check.

So say you keep schtum, but make your claim against Churchill. At renewal or when you go with another insurer when your current policy runs out, you don't make any mention of this claim (because you never claimed off your own policy), you will get cover, but within a few weeks you will get a letter from your insurer either cancelling your policy because of the non-disclosure, or asking you to pay the extra premium you should be paying plus admin charges.

    You won't escape this.

Don't declare it, see what happens :)

Give it twelve months and he'll be back asking for help because he's getting done for insurance fraud and bleating on about how it's so UNFAIR!

When do the Insurers check those databases?

So regardless if I tell them or not my premium will go up? How is that fair when its a non-fault incident?

On Price comparison sites there's always a question that says have you made a claim in the past regardless of fault or non-fault? If I click yes to this question my returned quotes will be higher?

I don't understand how it is fraud? Its my own car I bought with my own money. Its like the insurers own my car and I have a legal responsibility to report incident happened to their property.

You get a quote by info you give them, lying to get it cheaper isn't right.
