Advice needed - discrimination in job application?

This discussion isn't about me, it is about my friend.
I still believe it is discrimination and all my friends agree. Also, what right does an employer even have to make demands of someone that doesn't even work there?
It all seems very wrong.
Unfortunately you and all your imaginary friends are a bit daft.
Good luck with the job hunt. Hope you find something that's not too difficult for you.0 -
at the risk of repeating what others may have said in response to the OP - how is your friend managing to sign on/complete what the job centre want her to do?
I ask because when I signed on recently I was told I needed a Universal Jobmatch account linked to my claim so they could see how I was getting on with my jobsearch.
They offered to send me on a course for people to be taught how to use this resource.just in case you need to know:

Wouldn't a person whose roots were from a different country not potentially bring up race and ethnicity?
Also, you ask me a question which i have effectively asked the person i initially quoted so, whilst im happy that we deem in agreement, i don't understand why you addressed the question to me lol0 -
Well I hope noone here ever finds themselves out of work, it's easy to !!!! all over the unemployed just because you think you're the dogs bollox.
If you're all so successful, why are you even on a money saving website? losers.
That's a bit uncalled for. For I (as well as many others) offered your sound advice for you friend.0 -
If your friend has been out of work for nearly a year, surely she's had to register with job sites?
I know of people who are registered with the job centre and they have to go to,the local library to use their computers. Hardly difficult and good to get the computing skills practiced.
Not necessarily - a lot of people are not eligible for benefits. The last time I was out of work, I didn't bother registering. It took me all day looking for work (online) going for interviews etc. I didn't have time to do the stuff the DWP wanted as well! The DWP expects you to go around knocking on doors asking about vacancies and handing out or posting paper CV's!
Local libraries often have a 1 or 2 hour time limit, so not really enough for job searching.0 -
you are obviously computer savvy so why don't you help your 'old' friend with their cv and upload it to her computer where you can help them upload it to various job and employer sites ?0

This is pointless, how many people want to work in a shop anyway?
it's typical when all the jobs get taken by people who have only come over here to send money out the country and falsely claim benefits. When we have a UKIP government they'll soon put a stop to that.0 -

Crikey you would have a field day with my fb most of my pictures are from me with my friends at festivals and gigs and out clubbing.
When I go to a festival or a gig I sometimes temporiarly dye my hair a multitude of colours and paint my nails black and have all my piercings in and my tattoos on show and often had a beer in my hand
However when I turn up back at the office my hair is back to a natural colour my piercings are removed and my tattoos are covered up and my make up natural
In fact people are often shocked when they see me out as I look so differentFirst Date 08/11/2008, Moved In Together 01/06/2009, Engaged 01/01/10, Wedding Day 27/04/2013, Baby Moshie due 29/06/2019 :T0
