However, on looking at their facebook pages, one candidate's photo showed them sitting down with a cup of tea and the other was drinking a can of Redbull.
I know that Redbull is drunk by many different classes and ages of society but as it's also drunk by many people who go out partying at the weekend and this one harmless photograph might be enough to tip the balance.

Do serial killers not drink tea ?

Not having a job does not count as being on the employment ladder. Someone who is actively seeking work that is not beneath them is doing far better for themselves than the sort of person who can't do anything better with their life than work for a fast food chain.

Your post proves what is wrong with people's attitudes, someone who has no need to learn about computing should not be considered stupid/arrogant or infantile. They just have a different belief than you and don't spend their whole life on the computer.

An hour or two creating and submitting an application equates to "their whole life" on a computer?

    Get some perspective, please.

Your "friend", has 20 or so years left to work, that's 20 or so years unemployed then if this is their attitude, to think they should never have to touch a computer in a world where computers are becoming ever more present and important.

Kudos to your friend for being able to maintain such high self esteem while unemployed, I guess.
