Our retro cream Smeg fridge/freezer. We bought it in 1999 - found the receipt last week when I was de-cluttering in preparation for our impending house move - it's done really well, but is starting to leak and go a bit rusty, plus I really fancy a change so will be replacing it when we fit a new kitchen in our next house

My indesit washer dryer will be celebrated her 19 birthday this year. :beer:
It was expensive at the time as it was one of the first digital models but it serves us very well. I will try and repair it if it goes bust rather than buy a new one for sure

The oldest would be a Goblin vacuum cleaner that my parents gave to me. They can't remember exactly when it was bought, but it would have been in the late 1950's.
That said, at some point in it's life it's had a refurbished motor and a new flex, and I recently had to replace the switch. So apart from the casing, there may not be much of it that's actually original.If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -

£500 for a turntable in the 70's I here you say?, well yes, top end HiFi does cost.
At the other end of the scale I still have the radio alarm I bought in 1970 when I started work.
I retired 7 years ago, the clock hasn't :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I googled and found that £500 in 1970 is equivalent to at least £6000 today. So getting £2000 for it today is nowhere near 20x in real terms. Still, a very nice deck by all accounts.0 -

- My Sony stack system with 5 disc CD player from 1986.
- Carlton electric carving knife 1986
I also still have towels and tea towels in use from 1986 which were wedding presents. Wash much better than newer towels.
In work I have the ruler, scissors, staple remover and punch I was given when I started work in 1981. My Calculator is from 1990 and although the main battery has given up the ghost providing it's in good light it works better than my 4 year old replacement. Has more features, better display and doesn't move around my desk
