    My toaster is probably my oldest appliance - bought it when I bought my first house, in 1998.

    I had an electric kettle which lasted for nearly 20 years but died a couple of years ago, and an iron which was either 20 or 21 when it dies of being dropped 6 feet onto concrete by one of the removal men when I was moving house earlier this year. In fairness, though, it had been very lightly used during those 20 years. (The one I bought as a replacement is 6 months old and yet to come out out of the box :) )

  • This thread made me realise my dishwasher is 13 years old!

    I have an old Pioneer hifi from 1990 as well though the turntable has failed on that and I don't use it much anymore.

    Linn sondek from the early 70's, there hasn't been a better sounding deck produced and now costs more than 20 x what I paid, could still get £2000 for it, paid under £500.

    £500 for a turntable in the 70's I here you say?, well yes, top end HiFi does cost.

    At the other end of the scale I still have the radio alarm I bought in 1970 when I started work.
    I retired 7 years ago, the clock hasn't :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
    I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

    Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

    Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed
  • Some of the items are older than I am, and probably in better working order too:)

    The oldest thing we have is a Bush alarm clock radio that my partner got as a present in 1996.
  • My Matsui microwave was purchased in 1988 and is still going strong today after 26 years. Neither of my husbands lasted that long!

    Oh i forgot about that, we have a Matsui microwave that my dad bought my mum as a christmas present (don't ask, suffice to say she wasn't best pleased:) ) back in the late 80's that we use and is still going strong.

    I've got a dive compressor which is older than I am and still hasn't managed to kill me, it was built in 1976 :eek:
  • I've got an Amstrad CPC6128 computer from 1985, if you can count that as an "appliance". It's older than I am. I still use it now and again for a bit of super retro gaming.
  • My Kenwood electric whisk was bought in 1985 so too was my ironing board (although not really an appliance) and the iron is at least 22 years old. It even fell off the ironing board onto the tiled floor last week and is still working!

    My Hoover Aquajet is 19 years old next month and has been used as my main vacuum cleaner.
