I see the absurd Lib Dems are again wanting to deny this payment from what they term 'rich' OAPs who apparently receive 'up to £300 per person'.

Oh, yeah? Only the most elderly receive £300, shared if a retired couple; most get £100 p.p. if part of a retired couple or £200 if lone or part of a couple where only one is retired.
That was my experience, anyway - started at £200, dropped to £100 when my wife qualified and she started receiving £100.
'Up to £300 per person' indeed! There's a big difference between £100 per person and 'up to £300 per person', Ms Swinson, and you really need to check before talking rubbish.
In any case, I imagine finding out who the 'wealthier' OAPs are and restricting their payments would not be cost effective.0 -
Wealthy OAPs have paid most into the organised theft that is the tax system, so why shouldn't they get a little back? That gum you like is coming back in style.0
