    Hi all,

Just on quickly as I'm make bubble and squeak for the first time - don't judge !!!!

I am steaming the Brussels and cabbage that I found lurking in the fridge plus boiling up half a bag of mini new pots.

What do I add? onion, egg? How does it stick together as balls/patties?

Sorry if that's a digbat question!!!

The only thing I don't have is butter. I will go and buy some if I need to, but is it possible to make biscuits etc without butter?

You can make vegan shortbread using flour, oil, and sugar.

    These ones are quite nice.
That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.

Any woman here with a DH who can be trusted with a food budget, put your hand up! I bet there aren't many!

Haha, I think there must be a role reversal going on in my relationship as I'm the one who is very careful with food shopping and good at planning , whereas if I ask Lady Planky to pick up some milk she invariably comes back with a couple of bags of random bits and bobs! :)

My DH is better with budgeting than me but I'm not doing too badly. He's not one for meal planning though, on the other hand he is fab at using up stuff and makes great hodge podge meals for him and the kids :)

I'm not a fan of bubble and squeak but DH is so I've seen him make it. Bit late now I guess but I thought you stuck it together with leftover potato? You could have a fried egg on top :)

maria3104 and lynnejk I've added your yummy recipes to the index :)

NSD for me today (3). Will need to do some shopping tomorrow.

Today I spent a vast sum in A*da - of which £78.67 was grocery shopping. A lot of this was bulk-buy household stuff though. I know this is a lot but there was a time when I was spending that kind of money every week with very little to show for it.

Also spent £15.88 in W'rose - some of this was just for me because of my allergy issues.

I have uploaded everything into YNAB and it will be interesting to see where all the money goes at the end of the month.

Didn't spend any money on dinner tonight as we ate from stuff already in. Tomorrow both breakfast and lunch are courtesy of work as it's our Christmas party day.:xmastree:

EDITED to add that I got a voucher for £2.44 from the A*da price guarantee, so that can go against my next shop there.

    Hello all,

I am sorting out a few life issues, nothing serious but mostly time consuming, so please forgive me for pulling out of all challenges for the time being, life is challenging enough as it is at the moment.

I might pop in and lurk, but don't worry for my absence.

If I don't post before the new year, a very merry Christmas and prosperous New Year to all of you, and best of luck with the challenges.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).
