I read the first page of this thread earlier and started thanking my bank balance for a child who likes matalan and primark and another who would happily just wrap himself in a duvet all day.:D I see those who have kids who like the cheaper end of the market have now joined the thread.:D
Do you know what sort of colours and styles she likes? On a recent trip to Matalan in search of a black dress (not DD's style at all, but she needs it for a show she's in) I made her go through the racks of other clothes thinking of ideas for Christmas and point out which items she did and didn't like and then did the same to see if I'd guessed right. I never chose anything she didn't like, but didn't choose items she said she liked.0 -

Does anyone know if they have any money off codes?
Thanks
If she likes Animal you can't really go wrong with a Hoodie or Jumper. There is an outlet shop online. I love this windcheater. My 19 year old bought a similar one in pink from Asos recently and loves it.
Primark is tricky and I hate the crowds. I had a hugely successful shop in there for DD beginning of summer as we were going on holiday and she was only home from Uni a couple of days before we left. Coloured denim shorts were a hit, as were some silky type tops to match, vest t-shirt almost identical to some Top Shop ones that I knew she liked. Nothing over £5 each:T Other times I turn around and walk out in disgust at the mess and hordes!
Other option is a onesie!

see this is an example of how I think you can go wrong with all of those suggestions
. My DD wears jumpers and has hoodies, my niece is never in anything else, but they still have their own colours/slogans/designs they each prefer.
Onesies - no way - my DD got rid of them all last year. Loungewear yes, onesies no.
Primark is great - but again, only when she's there, so she can pick the styles/colours she prefers.0 -
My daughter is 14. She'd be horrified if i bought her anything from Boden or Joules, she just wouldn't wear them. She won't set foot in Next either.
Primark, New Look and TopShop are the places to go for her. I would never buy her anything without her being with me though. I just stand there and nod, otherwise i get the withering look.
Money always goes down well.0 -
I've never gone wrong with Hoodies for my DD, neices and nephews over the years. I see them enough to know the colour/style and fit they like and such a safe bet I even brought them back from US where they were cheap. Animal doesn't have that many styles/logo to choose from unlike Roxy.balletshoes wrote: »see this is an example of how I think you can go wrong with all of those suggestions

Just remembered I bought one of my older nephews board shorts for birthday from outlet shop. There were a huge amount of styles/colours to choose from. His wife had told me, not too bright, no elasticated waist, longish length etc. So I choose a pair in his size, popped receipt in pocket in case he disliked. He loved shorts but a size too big so he went to the outlet to exchange. I did think he was maybe being polite because they had too much colour etc. but he bought the exact same pair in smaller size as he thought they were fab.
hahaha, no one owns up to wearing onesies but freezing in Student accommodation out they come! Woman in work was saying her DD wouldn't been seen dead in a onesies but her DD was telling us how it's essential when she goes caravanning!balletshoes wrote:Onesies - no way - my DD got rid of them all last year. I have to be honest and say I wouldn't buy a gift from Primark as it would look like I was being cheap!:oballetshoes wrote:Primark is great - but again, only when she's there, so she can pick the styles/colours she prefers.

!
Only time to go to Primark really is at 8.30am!! I love it then, so quiet, no clothes on the floor or screaming kids!! The new Primark in Cardiff is epic, I can't wait to take DD there. It's absolutely huge!
DD's asked for Hollister, Superdry, Gilly Hicks or Jack Wills stuff for Christmas - she knows the only time she'll get anything of that type is for birthday or Christmas or if she pays for it herself. She had some stuff from those shops for her birthday but I took her with me and she chose what she wanted. In fairness she's had really good wear out of the hoodies, t-shirts and gilet she chose, and she's worn her Hollister skirt to death. She also loves Hollister body spray which comes in at £12!!! I love that at 11 I spend more on her clothes than I'd ever dream of spending on mine!!
:D
JxAnd it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end0 -
Have a look at Crew Clothing too if she likes those sorts of styles.0
