I have a 13 year old daughter and she loves Top Shop, Jack Wills and New Look. I would say anything from there and she'll be more than happy.

Having a 14 year old niece, I'd agree with the first sentence but not with the second. smiley-rolleyes010.gif

I take my 14 year old niece shopping for clothes twice a year - birthday and Christmas.

She never, ever chooses what I think she will - and that's based on what clothes I see her in during the year and what she's bought previously.

Something I think she'll love, she turns her nose up at but will coo over something I think she'd never look at twice. smiley-confused013.gif

It's very difficult and I'm happier to pay the train fare, take her for a girly lunch (where she has a couple of mocktails - 'safe sex on the beach' really cracked me up. :rotfl:) and she can choose her own clothes and try them on so there's no disappointment on the day.

I have a 2 DSDs aged 11 and 14, and they mainly shop in Primark and New Look. The eldest one used to like Hollister, but I think they prefer to get more bang for their buck, these days!

But I agree, I wouldn't buy actual clothes for a 13 year old. Get her vouchers, or take her shopping yourself and let her choose.

I think Primark have a good variety of things that a 13 year old would like, and you could buy her a mountain of things for less than a few items elsewhere.

absolutely - but she might not especially like what you pick - which is why I would take her shopping and let her choose herself.

That would apply to my DD! She now much prefer to get her money worth at Primark than one thing branded. She doesn't care much any longer about brands, happy to adapt her own style. I've stopped buying her any clothes since she was 12 as like posters have said already, although I think I know what she likes, I have got it wrong quite a few times (I know because she doesn't wear it despite telling me she likes it!).

I like Next for the little girl I buy for - has to be online though as they don't tend to stock the bigger sizes in store x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
