I'm not sure how you can open multiple accounts with YB / CB for the switching bonus? Do you have to have multiple non YB/CB accounts to switch over or can you do CB > YB for the incentive (and visa versa)?

I don't think I'd have opened FlexDirect accounts to use as donors, as that would mean I couldn't use them for 5% AER savings for (another) 12 months.

Yes you have to switch a non-YB/CB to YB/CB. You can't switch YB to CB or CB to YB to qualify.

In what way are you not sure how? I mean, you just ring them or call into branch and say "I'd like to apply for another account please" don't you?

Whilst the incentive T&Cs are, thankfully, 'loose'...they're not that loose!


Whilst the conditions don't expressly preclude transfers from within the group (like other banks' switching incentive T&Cs often do), condition 1 does say you're eligible "if you hold a current account with another bank or building society", the inference, and emphasis, being it has to be with another bank or building society.

But you can only have 1 FD paying the 5%, so open more than 1, I am starting that procedure.

Hi, I opened up an YB C/A Direct in November. Are you sure ni credit check is applied for opening additional account??

I assumed, since the discussion was about donor accounts, that castle96 had opened them purely as donor accounts and would immediately be switching them away?

I got embarrassed today. I opened a 2nd YB Account (Already opened a Direct last month and now waiting for the switch incentive) this time opened a Plus account. I didn't have the heart to ask if I could open another one!

So I called back about 3 hours later and opened another YB Plus account! :rotfl:

I finally got round to calling again today for another account - first question, do you have any other accounts with CB or YB, yes I do. What is your sort code and account number ...? :doh: I didn't have those with me .
