Thank you for your thoughts - it appears another application call may be required then (I can ask where my switching pack is from the other account :)).

Whilst the actual switching T&Cs don't mention switching your "main account", the advertising bumph (both online and in branch leaflets) does.

By definition (I suppose?), you can only have one "main account". At least that's the stance I'd imagine YB/CB would take. So when you called to ask where your 2nd, 3rd, 4th incentive payments were, I'm sure you wouldn't get them.

I'm hoping the switching incentive is an automated process (but programmed in as one per account, with various flags being set along the way, ie switch date, £1K credit, etc), but just in case it isn't, and there's some bod in an office somewhere checking them, all my switch dates were kept well spaced apart!

Much better to go with multiple accounts, rather than multiple switches, in my opinion. But no doubt we'll find out on the tally up in March/April (if the offer lasts until the end of February!).

By your argument though "you can only have one main account" you shouldn't be able to receive more than one incentive full stop (i.e. on different accounts) as by definition you've already switched your main account to YB/CB for the first incentive.

It isn't my argument though. It's what I'd assume YB/CB would say if/when you questioned where your other incentive payments were. It would be difficult to argue against a denial of secondary and tertiary (or even septenary ;)) payments on the same account and if you were then to escalate a complaint to the FOS, I'm sure they'd agree with the bank ('spirit' of the T&Cs and all that!). All a question of 'reasonableness'?

But as you say, condition 3(a) doesn't 'rule-out' multiple incentive payments via multiple accounts, so that's the way I've gone...with plenty of obfuscation along the way!

I already knew it was possible; I posted it not long ago on a different thread. Just wanted to get a feel for what is working more generally for others regarding switching to new and existing accounts.

I'm in a queue to apply for this account today. Was thinking of switching my joint account anyway; the £150 is a nice sweetener ;)

Still waiting for my opening pack after ring yorkshire bank on new year's eve. Rang them tonight and they said they would send another lot out! Not so quick as all the other switches I have made but I suppose the incentive is bigger so I have got to 'earn' it(lol)!
  • + £40 from Quidco

    + £42 from Topcashback

Interesting.... Never knew there was cashback from opening a current account. Factor in the switching bonus and its a good deal.
