13 minute phone call on the 0845 number from the work phone (natch) and I've opened a Yorkshire account. She never asked for account details for the account I'm switching. Most of the call was her talking endlessly about legals and T&Cs etc. She barely took a breath.

Stuff in the post this afternoon and a nice £150 coming my way post New Year. Which is nice.

I can recommend Clydesdale/YB, have had a current account direct with them for almost a year and have had no problems at all. On the couple of occasions I needed to ring them they were very helpful and sorted out my issues immediately. Secure messages are similarly dealt with efficiently.

Although I live in England I chose the Clydesdale variant. Just preferred it. There was no problem.

Their online banking service is excellent and the mobile app for iOS and Android is nice - just been updated to allow the new paym service and payments to other accounts by sort code and account number. The normal online service works well in a mobile browser too, formats well for the small screen and gives you full access to your account just like on a full-size computer.

Worth pointing out that you can deposit cash and cheques via the Post Office and cash is immediately credited to you account. This used to apply only to the Clydesdale Bank brand, but I think YB also allow you to use the PO now.

OK I already have a 4% current account with CB so I understand I'm not eligible for the switch bonus if I apply to open another account.

If I close the account and then apply for a new one would I be eligible then?

No, because you held* an account as at 17th November 2014 (is my understanding, based on condition 1(b)).

    * Although the actual word used in condition 1(b) is "hold", ie present tense.

I switched my YB account to TSB in April this year. Would I qualify, due to the fact that the YB account remains 'open' for a certain amount of time for various reasons?

The account you had did not remain "open" at all. It was closed as part of the switch to TSB. Perhaps you're confused by the redirection feature of the CASS?

You'll be eligible for the incentive.
