Yorkshire & Clydesdale Banks offering £150 for switching

Which account have you opened?
You do not need an overdraft or overdraft facility to get the £150 - so ring them up and cancel it immediately! No bank can force you to have an overdraft although some may offer it as part of the account opening process.
It could be part of the incentive t&c. Not dating it is because it isn't but it could be.0 -
Can I clarify something... I think I've done something silly. In the sign on process I think I asked for an overdraft... I got the paperwork through and it looks like they charge you for the facility even if you don't use it. Is that right? Do I need an overdraft to get the free £150? If not I think I have 14 days to cancel the overdraft.
In the T&C 12.1 it refers to a monthly fee being payable ONLY if the facility is used, i.e. if you go in to overdraft beyond any buffer amount.
I've got overdraft arranged and paid no monthly fee and haven't used the facility. Classic Plus and Classic Direct accounts.0 -

My first account was opened 26-11-14, my last actual switch date was 16-03-15, yesterday I received my last,(8th), incentive, 3 from CB and 5 from YB, a total of £1200.00 in nearly 5 months.
Took in total re opening accounts and other calls around 8 hours, not a bad hourly rate
.Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -
Got my last £150 today
15 accounts = £2250
Minor hassle, I thought, and generally the system/Yorks bank staff were efficient/friendly
I suggest that people maintain these accounts until Yorks Bank floats/sells itself...They've paid us handsomely and it seems a small gesture to let them show a large number of current accounts to a future suitor
I doubt we'll see a similarly generous scheme again!0 -
Just checked my accounts and i've just had my last £150 paid in.
Five accounts and £750 better off so not too shabby, although reading on this forum how some people have managed over 10 accounts does make me slightly jealous haha but fair play!0
