What number is it you are calling and what options are you selecting as when I called up they told me the only thing they could do was re-arrange my scheduled phone appointment.
I thought you had to book an appointment as opposed to just ringing up when you fancied opening an account?
I called the CB 0800 number on the first page of this thread.
Rang the YB number a wee while ago and it was answered as "Clydesdale AND Yorkshire Bank" And i swear the same guy answered as I had spoken to at CB earlier on!0 -
Is your address exactly the same for both - often living in a flat can cause problems as different systems create different addresses for the same postcode.
Eg.
Flat 24 Acacia Court 7 High Street
24 Acacia Court High Street
Acacia Court, 24, High Street
etc
Do you have statements/online records for your switch account so you can check the address matches the one you have for CB/YB - and did you put the right numbers on the forms?
No everything is the same.
Could it be post office? The card I got doesn't say it is a debit card. It doesn't have a start date. And it is Maestro0 -

Long answer: You'll only credit once before the incentive is paid, because you don't have to deposit £1K until the switch completes, and the incentive payments are being made around 33 days after this date.0 -

The £1000 per month on that acc is to secure the 2% interest.
.Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -

Does the £1000 from external sources needed to secure the £150 incentive have to remain in whole or in part in the account for any specific time or could it be transferred out say the next day and the same money used to trigger the incentive in another YB or CB switch account ad infinitum?;)0 -
Does the T+C say that you must have a minimum credit of £1000 for 'x' number of days/months/years/minutes/seconds?
No. You don't even have to do the full £1000 at once, you could transfer in and out the same £1 a thousand times if you wanted.0 -

They want you to switch your account to them.
They want (ideally, but don't stipulate) you to mandate your salary to the account and also pay your bills from it.
Your salary could make up the £1K required.
So, having said all that, how happy (on a scale of 1 to 10) would you be if they said you couldn't withdraw your salary to pay your bills for x days after it hits your account?
Does that, along with the fact its not in the switching incentive T&Cs, help answer your question?
In short, T&Cs are written for genuine customers, not incentive tarts and blaggers!0 -
Thanks for the replies. Now I understand:o. 2.0

After being given the direct line number for the very helpful adviser i got this morning i was heartened enough to talk my wife into opening a couple. Unfortunately she got transferred through to the obstructive git department. Opening gambit was " you can't just open it for the incentive". Begs the question "why the incentive if its not to attract customers". Anyhow his big thing seemed to be doing the sums for the figures on the direct in regard of the ongoing £1000 a month payment he claimed was "required" Our experience has been that the ones for the current acc plus that are straightforward rent in expenditure out for flat rentals are easiest to get agreed.0
