Yorkshire & Clydesdale Banks offering £150 for switching

Tried to open CB 2nd and 3rd accounts by phone today but got a bit of a sourpuss and therefore was grilled. Said he couldn't understand why I needed 3 accounts (well, actually i need 8!). He said he would only open one. I opened the one that he "allowed" as a readycash, yet he kept pushing me to take one of the other accounts - maybe he wanted to credit check me? I refused and stuck with the basic account - even though he tried 3 times to get me to change.
Will just ring later to try for numbers 3 and 4! (a bit worried though that he may have taken negative notes of our call as he seemed the type and the next operator may pick up on it)
Is it worth trying YB instead?0 -
Opened single number 11 (5 CB and 6 YB) today. No grilling at all. Quite laid back and straightforward. Took a lot of details across from previous application and just checked it with me.
Unfortunately a 'refer'. Will chase them next week.
Pretty sure that CB can only see your CB a/c, and YB only the YB ones.
Further credit search was done
I was curious about that. Can anyone recollect after say several account openings with the other bank (e.g. YB) and then trying to open their first account with the other (e.g. CB) there was any discussion of prior accounts or whether you had an account(s)/open applications with the other one?
I gather in branches they have separate systems - but wasn't sure about the call centre?
Still very curious about the March offer - if you apply now but don't get/sign the switch papers before 28 Feb which offer will they apply and will they restrict it (or maybe even raise the figure higher than £150?:D).0 -
I got a letter saying that at the switch cannot be accepted. Reason being "as some of the information we collected from you does not match the information held by your old bank"
Why do you think that is? The name is the same.0 -
Just off the phone and operator told me not to worry if paperwork doesn't arrive before the 28th Feb. as the offer is being extended for another month and the T&C will be exactly the same as currently.
When I applied for two accounts he asked me which bank I wanted so must have access to dual sets of individual customer data if a customer of both YB and CB I would have thought!?
Today he suggested I might like to open savings accounts instead but I said I wanted the switch incentive. He thought my applications would be referred but they both got approved.0 -

Slightly odd then - so someone just went into the website and added the word above to the description box? You think to avoid being overloaded they might just change the date to 28March or whenever.
On the first point - yes they can choose to log into either YB or CBs system at the call centre. But say you apply for the first time for a YB account but have accounts open/pending with CB can they see those CB applications and do they refer to them?0 -

Is your address exactly the same for both - often living in a flat can cause problems as different systems create different addresses for the same postcode.
Eg.
Flat 24 Acacia Court 7 High Street
24 Acacia Court High Street
Acacia Court, 24, High Street
etc
Do you have statements/online records for your switch account so you can check the address matches the one you have for CB/YB - and did you put the right numbers on the forms?0 -
Hi there managed to open my firs account with YB today, I think i made a mistake in selecting the Direct account. One of the T&cs of this is £1000 per month, will I need to keep doing this until I get the £150?0

What number is it you are calling and what options are you selecting as when I called up they told me the only thing they could do was re-arrange my scheduled phone appointment.
I thought you had to book an appointment as opposed to just ringing up when you fancied opening an account?0 -

I wouldn't waste my time on this call back business - I have never had problems getting through. And if you don't succeed just keep trying.
Try these freephone numbers and then choose option 2 for current accounts. The call centre staff are available 8am to 8pm weekdays and 10-4 Sundays (not sure about exact times Saturdays).
0800 22 24 26 for Clydesdale Bank or
0800 20 21 22 for Yorkshire Bank
Get up early tomorrow - and call at 10am. You might even get through now.0 -

Then option 1 for a new current account I assume?
That is the numbers and options I did previously, maybe I was just unlucky - I will try tomorrow or Monday as it beats waiting in for the call!
Thanks for the info.0
