Was starving that night, couldn't go out and buy dinner nor had the time to shop Sunday. Staff team acknowledged my difficulty, but refused to provide explanation nor to compensate for my predicament. Well I mean I borrowed some money from friends and will manage to survive this week, but I think what ASDA has done is quite disappointing.
So now im thinking I was right...Agreed.
OP did you have double the amount of shopping value in your account? e.g. if you spent £50 did you have £100 in your account as they take an authorisation first, then they charge the final amount separately.
That might go some way to explain the cancellation maybe?
Your order must have been cancelled because they took the pre-authorisation when the order was created then when they went to dispatch they charged the correct amount and there was insufficient funds in your account to take it.
This would tie up with the fact the pre-authorisation is still in place, meaning you had to borrow funds.
So, please answer, when you placed your order, up to the point where they should have delivered your order did you have over twice the order amount available for them to take?
If the answer to that question is no then there is the reason why they cancelled your order.0 -

Yep, sounds like the usual pants Asda online payment system. I can't believe they still do this, they're the only supermarket who do.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
Well that night I was waiting 8-10 and starving (Couldn't go out and pick up dinner nor cook as food ran out) until I realise the delivery wasn't here, didn't have time to pick up grocery on Sunday
They didn't bother to give an explanation, they are just rude, how can you cancel delivery 6-8 hours before, and not sending me the email to tell me, whereas when they are delivering the confirmation email was quick.
I am looking for recommendations of ombudsman.
Well, just saying, I used to think brits are nice people but not quite now :P
really, starving, really!!0 -

Are you ever going to address the question asked in post #19?
I reminded you in post #32.0 -
I too am also suspecting that OP did not have sufficients funds to pay the bill.
Visigig - where does the requirement of double funds come from ?
OP has gone very quiet.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -

Asda are well known, they take a FULL authorisation at the point of order and instead of using that authorisation they then take the entire amount again when they dispatch it to account for lack of stock/change of price etc. The original authorisation then takes up to 10 days to be released from reserved funds.
Asda could easily fix this but making the initial order authorisation £1 instead of the full amount each time (as most retailers do).
The problem was the OP ordered (full authorisation) then amended the order (suspected full authorisation) and then tried to dispatch (failed third authorisation).
I think the radio silence from the OP is because this is actually what happened, despite the protestation to the contrary.0
