ASDA cancelled delivery without any notice (New member here)

They cancelled it less than 12 hours before delivery, didn't send email, SMS, phone call. I was waiting from 8-9, and only when the delivery man didn't arrive then I started to realise something weird.

I am a student from overseas so don't have BT landline, ended up being hung over on phone from 38 minutes before credit went out and call centre didn't bother to call back.. (That was 8 quids fgs)

The bank is going to detain my 31 quids for ten working days... What should I do?

Is there an ASDA rep on the forum who can help here? I've always had texts and phone calls from drivers.

Would ASDA cancel if there was a payment issue ?

Go in to an Asda store, speak to customer service, and ask if you can use their phone to call the online customer service for the reasons you gave above.

Don't play the "I'm a poor foreign student", it's correctly not going to win you any sympathy. Instead, use one of the alternative numbers for ASDA on saynoto0870 to call them inside your mobile plan.

If you cannot get in touch with Asda, then I fear you will have to wait for your money to be released... just like those of us who are not foreign students.

Is that the last £31 you have?

    Hi lilfoohk

Thank you for your email about your cancelled order.

I’m sorry your shopping wasn’t delivered and you had to call up to find out where it was. I understand being a student you don’t have a land line and to use you mobile cost money.

I checked your account and see you were not charged. You would need to get a fax number and a authorization code from your bank. We will then fax them to advise the order was cancelled and they will have to make the funds available on your card.

Thanks again for contacting me and if there’s anything else I can help you with please let me know.

    Have a great day

    Kind regards

  • Is it wrong for me to expect them to explain why they cancelled the order and compensate me a bit? If ASDA can do this like 6-8 hours before delivery and doesn't give a xxxx about it like cancelling order is a part of their life, I guess I have to change my supermarket, any suggestions?

  • And should I bring about further actions like complaining to ombudsman? In Hong Kong these things hardly happens (Aussie living in Hong Kong for 20+ years)
