I have the mobile numbers of almost everyone at work (male and female) and they have mine. Seems like a sensible idea to me. You can let them know if you are running late, keep them updated with important news whilst they are away from the office, etc. Sending them jokes at work seems odd to me though!0

I asked OH if I could look at his numbers list on his work phone - and loads of them are women! but, that is because he works with quite a few women, who are usually office based but in regular contact. I don't see anything odd or wrong about this.0

I don't think it's the fact that the OP has a male colleague's telephone number that is raising eyebrows but the fact that she asked for it and claims not to know why0

Okay I have a couple of questions which I hope you will answer honestly...
Do you fancy him? (Even just a bit?)
Would your heart flip a bit if he texted you outside of work?

I'm not being funny here but it's all very odd this. Everybody knows exactly why they ask for someone's number, there is ALWAYS a reason. And I'll be honest now, if a girl asks for my number without a reason when she asks, I'd fancy my chances. It's always darkest before the dawn.

From my own point of view i only gave my personal number to my supervisor and manager. Thats it as for collegues i see them enough at work and dont need to communicate with them outside of work.0

The only person at this job that has my number is my line manager, and I have his work mobile number - but this is obviously for things like ringing in sick and emergencies at work.
OH has a few female colleagues' numbers but I have 99% of them too because I used to work there and we're all friends. Our Rainbow Twins born 17th April 2016

The most annoying thing about this thread is that we are not three pages in yet the grammar on the thread title has not been corrected yet.I can offer no resistance, I can offer no respite
