Affected by poor mobile phone signal?

I live in a Suffolk village some 8 miles outside of Bury St Edmunds the mobile phone signal here is virtually non existent the only service that I can receive is at the best patchy 2g with Vodafone, 3g is unavailable even with Vodafone and as for other operators I can get no signal at all from EE, !3, O2 or any other of the operators leaving us in this area with no choice but to use Vodafone for an all together unsatisfactory service but still having to pay for a service that for most of the time at home is derisory!0

Here in West Cumbria from Whitehaven A595 to Millom, Millom to Grange Over Sands A5092 and A590 if you can get a signal it drops very quickly with any network. 02 and 3 are the worst. Where I live in Bootle Cumbria there is no signal at all with any network for mobile internet. Forget 4g we don't even have 3g!!0

Hi just to enter into the spirit of the consultation I have just emailed this to the government's 'partialnonspots' consultation.
"Hello, I would like to report extremely poor mobile signals on all services including my own mobiles which are on Vodafone and Virgin respectfully. My postcode is BH6. In fact if you check, signals are extremely poor throughout the east of Bournemouth and particularly Christchurch - a significant population size of circa 250,000 in SE Dorset..
The above situation has not improved since 2003 when I had my first phone. Poor signal means either having to stand on the roof top or travelling by car to the line of site location which is totally unacceptable for £30 month tariff."

The government wants to tackle the problem of "partial not-spots", which it says affect 20% of the UK. These are areas where there may be a signal from one or two networks, but not all (ie O2, Vodafone, EE and Three).
It has issued a consultation (42 page PDF) but we have summarised the main points below.
The government is proposing four options to address these partial not-spots:- broadening coverage by encouraging the networks to share their infrastructure (eg masts), or if they do not agree to this then by obliging the networks to do so
- encourage "mobile virtual network operators" (companies which offer their own service but use one of the main networks, eg TalkTalk Mobile and Virgin Mobile) to expand by having agreements with more than one main network, so their customers would get broader coverage by being able to access multiple networks
- national roaming - if you do not have signal with your own network you would automatically access another network, like when you are abroad
- do nothing
The key questions are (you don't have to answer them all):
Where do you experience poor signal and which network are you with? Which services can you access (calls, text, internet)? Do you know whether other networks have better coverage in this area, and which these are?
Do you agree that the government should try and extend mobile network coverage? What do you think of the solutions above? Which would you prefer to be implemented and why?

Should Martin not send out a email ? We all have mobiles, we would all get a better signal 'free' if we were allowed to roamSO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe0 -
i live in North London, Holloway/Tufnell Park area and i do not have a phone signal with 02. They assured me that their coverage is great in the area and refuse to reimburse me.
Worse thing is that its my business line and Im constantly missing calls or my call cuts off half way through a conversation. This is frustrating and I still have to pay the full costs. (£50per month) I have to walk into the main shopping area just to get internet signal also, apparently 4g only works in some areas of London. Ive been ripped off, can anyone suggest what to do?
02 have more or less ignored my plea's.

Hello I too had expierence of signal failure. My husband and I moved from large council estate to rural village for quieter life. was O2 customer with home broadband but system would not travel extra 3 mile and railway and motorway to cross it wasnt feasible. Had Vodaphone which I could only get signal if outside house, on top of hill if inside or down hill it was useless as hubby had fall and couldnt contact me! Went to Tmobile good signal there were two masts hence good signal until Tmobile merged with EE then problems started when they cancelled one of the masts. Obviously like in previous posts they denied any responsibility after 6 mths of phoning from the shop, changing chips promises of fixing the mast, it turned out they were engaging in 3/4g and I could barely get 2g. As we live in village with 144 houses. they are still using copper wiring ( which thieves were able to steal easily). We are still awaiting optic wiring, and even broadband speed is so slow 0.4 mps and nearest exchange is over 5miles away. I now use O2 for my mobile as its strong signal no joy for me with broadband because we live in a blackspot unless I pay extravagant price to BT! no way.0

I had been with Orange for over 20 years living in the same house (HX3 - Halifax) for 17 of those years but when they changed to EE my signal became nearly none existant in the house, I had to run outside or upstairs near a window to answer a call. Their signal checker says I should get signal but I didn't. My husband is on Vodaphone and got a perfectly good signal. My daughter's friend is on O2 and she also gets a good signal at our house. Previously I had spoken to EE as four of us were on their network but they wouldn't send a signal booster for free (even though I paid around £180 a month in contracts with them) so last week I spoke to them again as my contract had come to an end, but still wouldn't send a signal booster so bye bye EE, hello Vodaphone!0

My company's HQ is in Witney, Oxfordshire, and I just can't get signal on O2 around there0
