I've had a bit of a wild month and am on wind down for Oz in all honesty. I'm weighing around 14 stone so while haven't made my target I feel a lot better than I did last year. When I get back in March I'm aiming to restart to get the last 2 stone off.
Just wanted to say thank you to everyone for the motivation. It's been one hell of a year work wise and other wise. I'm still pretty chuffed. Also hope everyone's doing well with there weight loss:T:T  :beer::beer: to the lil one:beer::beer::beer:

OP, here is some advice you wont like to hear and it doesnt involve heavy exercise or joining a gym( thats the last thing you need to do )..this is how you lose weight..no ifs..no buts ..and it go s for everyone else..
you have gone to the doctors complaniing about something odd.He examines and tests you and the net result is you join the diabetic club !..Everyone in the UK today should follow a strict diabetic diet. Dont get involved in any other diet which appears in the media. All the heads of the NHS agree with me. Once anyone starts on a true diabetic diet you are going back to a natural diet which will force you to walk into Sainsburys/Tescos and reject 90% of food on offer..end result of a true diabetic diet will make everyone revert to the weight they were in their late teens and early twenties0 -

I was a size 6-8 in my teens and I ate crap, all day, everyday. I'm healthier now even if I am at a heavier weight. I will take healthy over skinny any day. I'm now a size 12That voice in your head that says you can’t do this is a LIAR!

If you were so overweight at that early age than you have zero chance of avoiding being a diabetic by the time you are 50 .Your Pituitary gland only has so much life left in it producing insulin to regulate your super high blood sugar levels which has got you so overweight. It will surely start to say "enough " and then you will begin to realise what the future holds for you. Maybe you are ok now but believe me it wont last.0 -

Come on then, be truthful, what is your EXACT B.M.I. some people sit back thinking they are not obese (overweight ) but their BMI would confirm that they come within that category. We have to use that measurement not someone s idea of where they stand. Here in the UK we have getting on a third of adults who are categorised as obese, the worst in Europe.0 -

I lift weights (although not as often as I'd like), and usually do around 8 hours of heavy aerobic exercise a week, so I'm fairly muscly with that. I'm a size 12, sometimes a 10.
Also, if you're going to use BMI as an indicator, you should be clear about the difference between overweight (over 25) and obese (over 30). And lets not forget that BMI is a good measure for "typical" people, it doesn't work as a measure of health for everyone (e.g. many athletes will be classed as overweight or obese because their muscle mass pushes their weight and therefore BMI up).Do you not know that a man is not dead while his name is still spoken?

Anyway, my intention wasn't to drag the thread off topic but to make a lighthearted joke to dispel the impression that everyone who wants to lose weight was a slender teen who has sneaked a few pounds on as they got older.
For many who need to lose weight (maybe even most), it's more complex than that and advice such as "follow a diabetic diet" might be good advice, but may be too simplistic to be useful.Do you not know that a man is not dead while his name is still spoken?
