Do you find petrol stations horrible places?

Got a text from the HR director once, I'd been working with her on a project for a few months, saying that the guy opposite her in the petrol station was shaking "his hose" in her direction "suggestively". Never did find out exactly what happened nor absolute confirmation of which "hose" she was referring to.
Never had any issues with petrol stations, tend to go to the local Sainsbury's one simply as its the closest and cheapest. Friendly staff, always comment on the fact my Nectar card has lost its front so is just white. Authorised quickly and normally fills up fine.
Have to put the thing in at a certain angle to get the maximum fill rate without the automatic stopper kicking in but that is evidently a design issue of my car and not the petrol station's issue0 -

If I go to Sainsbury's to fill up, I cannot top the tank up to the brim, as the cut out keeps kicking in, meaning that I end up with 3/4 tank max.
If I go to Tesco, I can fill the tank up to the brim, no probs. No stopping, no jerking of the pipe, just plain sailing.
Must be something to do with the pressure. Either that or a VW Passat has a weird shaped tank.
I get that using Sainsburys and BP pumps on my petrol Vauxhall Astra. They always click at random times and take forever to fill up, whereas everywhere else is fine and no clicking until its completely full.0 -

No..........................It's someone else's fault.0 -
I once filled the bike up at an Esso (wearing my helmet), walked into the shop to pay and the guy at the tills asked me to take my helmet off, I said no at which point he started stuttering something about his safety and not serving me until I did. I pointed out I was offering to pay therefore clearly not doing anything untoward. He eventually took payment but wasn't happy about me challenging his little power trip.
Pretty sure you're the one on a power trip as most petrol stations have a sign to remove helmets before you enter, as they are common places to steal money from, would have you done the same in a bank too?
Common knowledge really - not to walk into these kind of places with it on:hello: Hiya, I'm single mom, avid moneysaver and freecycler, sometimes  but definatly0 -

No it's not. That was the one and only time I've been asked in nearly eight years of biking in various countries. I can probably count on one hand the number of times I've seen any signs about removing helmets.0 -

BP in Norwich has a very causal approach. The one just down the road from the Linton Travel Tavern.0

Me too! Vile vile vile.
I remember being tiny in the back of my Dads car & there was always a man to do the petrol thing. There was no self service at all, anywhere.
What a luxury that was and I bet nobody even realised at the time.
I'd love to find a garage that still did that, even if the petrol cost more I'd be all over it. Imagine, not even getting out the car, just wind the window down & chuck the money through, blissJust because you are offended, doesn't mean you are right0 -
There are some petrol places which exist to take advantage of the imprudent motorist, even not including service stations which I stick in Dante's third circle of Hell without a pause to consider.
However, some supermarket places are OK and a few are downright pleasant. Says she, thinking fondly of the local Sainburys, whose staff not only sort me nectar points, whatever school vouchers are on and currently delightfully cheap fuel but also manage to smile as they do so.
Try other places?0 -

Have to say I thought it was common knowledge. It's someone else's fault.0
