Yep but I had no idea that stamp duty was changing, so now I'm quite happy and will thank the solicitor when it all finally goes through, as long as it doesn't all change again!

That's great news about the stamp duty saving. I have a friend buying a place at the moment and she's getting about a £3000 reduction in her stamp duty costs. Hope the exchange happens soon and you get into your new place before Christmas.

Wow, that's a very nice reduction!
As much as I want it to hurry up and I keep moaning about it, I know the £100pw that I give my parents while I'm here will help out with the winter bills

  • Well I'm still at my parents, I'm holding on to a thin thread of hope to complete by the end of Jan. trying to make myself feel better by thinking about the few quid I'm saving being here though the half price offer on the storage units I've got will be up soon, should still be a few pennies better off though. Living out of a suitcase is getting boring now though and I can't do half the things I want to. Everyone keeps saying it must be great to have my mum to do my laundry but it's really not, I want to do MY washing when I want to do it, I want to do my own shopping, I want some space!

Still nothing happening, but I did get an email fom my solicitors on 29th dec to say that the delay at the moment is due to the sellers solicitors being off from 19th dec to 5th jan so no doubt they'll have a backlog and my stuff will be bottom of the list. But hey ho, more money into the savings pot

  • Well, heard from the solicitors today, they've been waiting on news of the status of the roads. Turns out they haven't been adopted and there are currently no plans to adopt them so did I still want to proceed and if so there's indemnity insurance that could help in the future and they'll need to tell the lender. This is a little worrying as although I'm happy to proceed Halifax might not be!
I also pointed out to the solicitor that if the lender is happy then things really need to hurry up as my mortgage offer expires at the end of March and I really don't want to have to go through it all again! So fingers, toes and eyes all crossed. She hopes to hear from Halifax by the end of the week and the council are supposed to be doing something else, that I've now forgotten, by feb 11th. Really really want it to be done early March as I've got time off so could get everything unpacked and sorted. Pleeeeease
