Another question I have is that it also shows on my report, that there is a default placed on there from a company called 'Arrow Global Ltd' - now I have no idea who they are and it shows that I have never paid them - which is of course correct as I have no idea who and why they are there.

No personal experience, but it seems Arrow Global is a debt collector, so they probably bought your original debt and claimed an additional default on it, which is most probably incorrect. Search the forums, but I believe an account/(debt?) can be only defaulted once; they should have served a formal default notice before doing it, and you don't have a CCA (cons credit agreement) signed with them anyway...

I'm not sure on the partial settlement, after all what they state is true, right?

A default can only be registered once for the same debt - yes. That doesn't mean they try it on when they re-sell it - you could get another default and have to fight to get it removed.... bit of a pain to be honest..... :D

so you can get another default when the debt is sold? interesting (if a little unfair)
sorry to go off topic but how long do they keep the debt before selling it?
  • I believe that the original company are quicker to sell on the debt than they used to be due to the current economic climate.

I've just accessed my credit report from annualcreditreport.co.uk and it's got everything on it. An annual report is free, £4.95 pa for their premium service. The free one is good enough for me.

Although I always thought I was a good risk and have never been turned down for anything, recently I've been opening a lot of current accounts and credit cards to take advantage of cashbacks and accounts such as the HBOS rewards and Lloyds Vantage, so I was a bit worried about my rating. This morning applied for a Saga credit card to take on holiday this summer and was really scared they would turn me down! But, if this report is to be believed, there'll be no problem at all, so can now stop worrying and get on with looking forward to the holiday...

    Well worth a few clicks.

How very sensible? What a way to f*** up your credit rating and future chances (within 6 years at least)

It's not quite as bad as that

If some of the searches are duplicated by the same lenders, then I would expect that roughly half are unrecorded enquiries (made to check identity, for instance) or quotation searches. These are not seen by other lenders.

It's the number of searches classified as credit checks that matter. Too many in a short space of time could certainly have an impact on the OP's credit rating, but the footprints will drop off his/her file after 12 months, so the effect is fairly short-lived.

    Hi all,

Has anyone here had experience with getting Equifax/Experian to update information?

I ask as it appears that my credit score is severely undermined by the fact that both Equifax and Experian are not listing me on the electoral register at my current address, however I am on the electoral roll and have been since January.

I have logged this error with both Equifax/Experian via their online service, however 2 weeks later I have still received no response. I have tried calling Equifax/Experian but always end up on hold for long periods and as of yet have not got through (this is made more annoying by Equifax’s lack of free phone number).

What is the best way to ensure that Equifax/Experian update their information ASAP? I am really keen to get this resolved but currently I can’t get anyone to speak to me about the problem.

    Thanks for any advise.
