Just in case anyone was thinking of signing up and paying for them...
Signed up with both Equifax and CreditExpert (Experian) for free trial.
Equifax gave me access to my report straight away on line.
And when i phoned to cancel, were polite and helpful.
CreditExpert, otoh, have sent a PIN code in the post, bit of a hassle.
Then I tried to phone to cancel. Phoned several times but couldn't get through, not even into a queue. Just get a message saying ring later or e-mail us. So I e-mailed them to cancel, and just got a message saying if you want to cancel you have to phone. I mailed again saying you don't answer the phone, and just got the same mail back. This is a lot of a hassle. Looks like I might have to send them a recoreded dlivery letter if I can't get through on the phone and they won't accept it by e-mail. So BEWARE of signing up with them.0 -

Hi Killbill, what do you request them to do when you called them? Am thinking of getting another 1 month trial as well!0 -
Honestly I am scared to get any credit reports because of these scams everywhere.... can't trust anyone...0

You can cancel your experian credit report by contacting their team on free phone 0800 656 9000 and select option 4 :j0

I'm sorry if this is in the wrong place, but i have a couple of questions about credit reports. How long do defaults stay on file for if they are:
a) settled
b) unsettled
I have had a quick look around but can't seem to find it. Don't have time to search through everything.0 -
Hi,
Thanks for the information this is really very helpful.. When businesses suspiciously access my credit report I feel violated. But instead of putting a gun to their heads I decided to take advantage of a right that few people know they have. A relatively new law allows you to place a permanent security freeze on your credit report with each of the three credit reporting agencies. If you do that, no one can access it ever without your permission. Finally, you can take back control of your credit report! But id you sign up, be forewarned: It's a hassle. The problem is, people still don't ask for your permission. That's just fine if its a criminal. But if you sign up, be forewarned: It's a hassle. But it's annoying if it is an entity with whom you're trying to do business. No Unapproved or Personal links in signatures please - FT30 -
