I was wondering if anyone here can confirm how long cc companies; specifically Capital One and Barclaycard, keep receipts for? I'll explain. In 2005 I paid off in FULL both of these, and sent back the unwanted cards, cut up through the strips, in a sealed jiffy bag with a "please close and terminate my account" letters. I thought nothing more of it when I heard nothing back and then this year I applied for £400 credit at a music shop, and was declined. I have 1 mobile phone contract and 1 current account with an overdraft I am within, so I was baffled and now I see that my acounts were never closed and have been used to I want to prove it was not me, eg "I see the receipt was in Manchester but I lived in London and was working on that day at XXX company" or, "Why would I be buying from Hamleys, I have no kids" etc as I am obvkiously gonna need to do...any help would be gratefully received. I am also not on the ER as I have moved house afew times due to escaping a violent domestic situation.0

Hi everyone,
Looking for some advice back in 2005 i opened a Daxton account and bought one thing for £1.99 i sent the item back and thought nothing of it. Untill i seen on my credit report that i missed 3 payments. I then paid the £1.99 off and closed the account.
Now can i get this company removed from my credit report as it's the only thing that looks out of place on a otherwise great report of 999.
Thanks0 -

Errors can be corrected or amended, but you cannot get data which is accurate removed.
That said, your unblemished record with other lenders will be evident from your credit files. It's your payment history with all your creditors over the last 6 years that counts, with particular emphasis on the most recent 12 months.People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -
I understand that different companies report to equifax and/or experian, however im a little confused..
I was a silly boy just under 6 years ago, and missed alot of payments on a mobile phone account. so i have a nasty little mark on my equifax report giving me a score off 349, pretty poor. (thankfully it will disapear from my credit report in 4 months as it will be over 6 years since settled).
The strange thing is that on my experian report, using the same addresses it has given me a score of 999. The mobile phone account that i missed payments on is showing, but appeards not to have the same affect as on the experian...
Any ideas.

It's not uncommon for MSEs to post completely different scores from the three CRAs. (I suspect that the lenders' scores, had we access to them, would be different from each other as well!) I wouldn't let these numbers distract you from checking the info in your credit reports. It's the accuracy of this data, which really countsPeople who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -
So your report should have details of mobile contracts etc? I got mine from Equifax and there is a credit card missing (which I never used anyway) and no mention of my 02 mobile contract. Reckon I should let them know? I'm getting the Experian one too.
Thanks,

This would only matter if you had no other credit facilities. Provided that your other active accounts are shown, the fact that two are missing from your Equifax report is of no importance really.People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -
