hi guys and gals,i have just looked at my credit report via garlik.com and it says my score is 674 and that i have a 2 star rating due to the fact that i apparently have no accounts or searches on my file, can anyone advise me on wether i can apply for a credit card with such a score and if so which one(s),thanks

I suggest you read Post 133 and the attached link. Your score and 2 star rating mean absolutely nothing. All lenders will have their own operating criteria for approving borrowing.

I have just registed with https://www.garlik.com for their free trial of DataPatrol inc free credit report, has anyone else tried it? I did use Annual Credit Report, but it only showed credit card and bank account details but not any direct debit transactions for bills.

I have checked the Garlik report and it says there was search on my file on 4/9/06, but I have not make any credit applications around that time, but I did have my purse stolen in July and I do have a NW account - re: the stolen laptop in August. It does not state which company/bank the application was made to.

"There are two basic types of searches recorded on your credit file, a credit application search and an enquiry. Only credit application searches are seen by lenders, so that they can make an assessment of how ‘credit active’ you are. There are lots of myths about the problems caused by having several credit application searches recorded on your credit file. Certainly, many searches within an hour or two can indicate a possible fraud, and dozens in a month can indicate financial desperation, but up to about 12 searches on file in a year is perfectly normal and is expected. Very low levels of searches can tell lenders that you are not very credit active, so they may not be so willing to lend to you"

I have a score of 905 and 5 stars but I still can't get a NW debit card
  • To cancel your credit report from experian the best way is either emailing them and they reply giving a number which usually starts EMR or telephone them on freephone 0800 6569000.
  • I ordered my Experian and Equifax reports a couple of days back. I'm interested to see what they say. Anyone ever had any nasty surprises on theirs?
  • Experian report came today. Shows every card and mosts loan i've had. Pretty interesting reading. Shows a clean bill of health though....thank god!

It didn't show one Natwest loan i had. Shows the other two though. Also doesn't show my Natwest overdraft and neither of my Natwest current accounts......but it shows my HSBC current account that i barely use.

Sorry if this is in the wrong place, but I've been trying to get my report from CreditExpert for 3 days now at different times of the day. I get all the wat through, am able to log in and get to 'my credit centre' but every time I click on 'obtain your report' it says 'Sorry, CreditExpert is temporarily unavailable'

    Any ideas?
