  • Hi

As a newbie here, I have to thank you all for clarifying such complicated matters for me. :o

Here's my problem: I've applied for two different credit cards and been rejected on the basis of an Experian report. I checked my credit score with them and there are no problems --except for the fact that I'm not on the electoral roll. However, this is fair enough, since I am a foreigner and am not thus entitled to voting! (Also, I have a mortgage and my accounts are never on the red...)

My question is: is there any chance I could improve my scoring (and thus get a credit card) without being on the electoral roll?

    Thanx!

  • You say you are "foreign". If you are a EU national then you can register but only vote in local elections............

  • hi guys, any help appreciated, firstly my friend opened a bank account with the halifax online and was accepted and told to take the relevant i.d to his local branch to verify that everything was o.k when he was there the halifax ran a credit check and gladly gave him his account, later a cheque book came along with guarantee card but now when he is trying to do a free trial with both equifax and experian so as he can view his credit report online they are both saying that he is not showing up on their reports, any help please

I am currently looking at my report with Annual Credit Report, but it only has records for 10 accounts, which are old credit cards and 1 current credit card and 2 current accounts, 1 current and 1 closed in Jan, but it does not have info on my A&L current account, nor any direct debits or any old debts.

I'm sure I must be missing something somewhere, cos I have had a problem with getting a debit card with Nationwide, so is this report the same as what you get with Experian? I have never had my credit report from Experian, so don't know what I should be looking for.

on my report it said i had a ge card (i got if with debenhams to get 20% of a gown) but when i realised it was GE money behind it i cut it up.

Thing is it says it has been settled but is only on my cccount as a reference as it has to stay there for a while.

i never actually verbally or physically told them to cance it, is it just an automated process when you dont use a card like this for a while (been about 3 years - not been used since initial purchase)

Is there a list of which companies deal with which agency, reason being, is that any Credit search on Experian seems to be taken in a positive light but any search via Exquifax seems to result in an rejection.

Have had problems before with Debt (9 Months of unemployment) but htat was 6 years ago, everything on reports from them seems OK.

Understand companies have vastly different Credit Scoring processes.

    Recent Examples

Virgin Money Credit Card - Accepted £11K limit - (7 Months ago)
Post Office Credit Card - Rejected even after sending all the anti money laundering documents they asked for. (1 month ago)
Virgin One Mortgage (Royal Bank of Scotland) - Increase of 35K accepted (This week)
Royal Bank of Scotland Gold Credit Card - Accepted (This Week)

    Thanks
