I think the OP needs a bit of good old understanding from folk on here....?
Yes, finding out one's exhaust is about to fall off [or, does?], then discovering one's clutch is beggared, all coming at the wrong time, financially, is something to really Grrrrrr! about?
Too many of us have been there at some point.
Yes, owning & running a car can be an expensive pastime.
So, when on a limited income [congrats on the pay rise, BTW?}.....some folk on here have been actively offering advice & suggestions.
The question of oil changes is an incredibly relevant one......given the car's recent history, such a basic servicing procedure may well have not happened....so, is there another calamity waiting to happen?
Or, will a little bit of hands-on, getting grubby time help to offset such issues?
Modern cars need very little in the way of know-how to simply service & check over.
When money is tight, why pay over the odds for someone else to get dirty, when and hour or so of one's time gets the job done?
That is the point some folk are trying to get across....maybe not to the OP, but certainly to those lurkers on here who may well be reading these posts, in sympathy? No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -
Not sure where people aren't reading the question in the opening post about possible tampering, but ok.
The oil was changed on 12/september by my dad who's been a mechanic since 1980 and is now the big cheese at vosa (or whatever they call it now). He'd steal my keys if it wasn't in good working order.I can't add up.0 -
Splendid!
Did he also suggest what had gone wrong with the clutch? No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -

Why not pull a string or two and ask your dad, if he's such a big cheese in the motor industry?0 -

Let's not get into the issue of why my dad doesn't help me with things. :rotfl: Let's just say he'd rather concentrate on family number 2.I can't add up.0 -

Sorry, I just thought since you'd brought him up and he was hands-on with your car eight weeks ago, you might as well use his expertise, but I guess not.
Maybe he broke the clutch?0 -

He did an oil change because he wasn't particularly busy and gave it a once over out of interest while I was helping his wife with the cooking for a few hours. He didn't exactly come over, tools in hand ready to take the car apart and put it back together.I can't add up.0 -

When you say 'his wife' do you mean your mum or step mum?0 -
