Out of Overdraft as of Wednesday. Then on Thursday, my exhaust fell off on a questionable speed bump (at 3mph, it was probably going to fall off at some point) so I ended up £120 out of pocket for that replacement yesterday... then today, as soon as I start up my car, it made a strange noise and the clutch was near unresponsive/sticking. Just taken it in and that's another £400 down the drain.

Why do I have a car? The sole purpose is to travel to and from work (I work strange hours and it's unwalkable so public transport is not an option.)

Woe is me. I'm only on bloody minimum wage!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

I've only had the bloody thing since July and the ignition coil went after 2 days!

Can't afford a new one, and need one for work. Catch 22.

This is more a rant than anything else, but I'm just wondering if there's any chance the clutch was tampered with when I had my exhaust done?

It's a 10 year old Citroen (I know, I know) C3. It's done a fair few miles - about 100k
I can't add up.

The trouble with cars they can burn a big hole in your pocket to keep them on the road. If it's possible you should try and learn the basics so you can save something on any routine maintenance.

My tools have paid for themselves over and over. Is a must if money's tight and you run old cars.
  • Sorry your car is choosing the worst time to mis-behave, they do seem to know when would be the worst time to do it.

£400 for a clutch seems pretty steep (guessing your cars age, make, mileage, what is wrong with it etc)

Just a quick note to say don't try keeping the car going beyond its economical age.

Well repair costs are a part of owning a car and you should always have contingency plan to mitigate any potential risks.

Any idea what this contingency plan may consist of? Putting away imaginary left over money for a rainy day, perhaps?
