  • Hello Lucky, I'm really sorry you are having such a challenging time with bugs etc.

My DS had something similar when he was much younger (20 years old now) and I drove myself frantic trying to keep him hydtrated. A very kind and sensible doctor told me that one tablespoon of water every 15 minutes was the equivalent of 2 litres of water in a day and as long as I got that inside him it was okay. He also said it didn't have to be water. Juicy varieties of fruit or ice lollies sucked would do just as well. We never looked back as it wasn't too daunting for DS to achieve. If this helps you then wonderful!!

I wish you all an uninterrupted night's sleep tonight and a full recover for your DS. xxx

My DD had a febrile convulsion when she was 18 months old. It was so scary and she ended up staying in hospital overnight. I'll never forget ringing for an ambulance in hysterics I was so scared. She was fine the next day. That's kids for you one minute they're sick the next perfectly alright. Hope things are ok tonight.

  • Evening, quick update before bed. DS2 has been drinking a bit more today (thanks for the reassurance hopefuljoy!). He asked for a sandwich at lunchtime and had a few bites which was the best he'd done since Thursday. He then asked for tea but wouldn't eat it when it was ready because he felt sick. He has, however, had half a doughnut and a bit of full-sugar lemonade as supplied by MiL, so hopefully that helped.

Been experiencing lots of anxiety today, so much so that I forced myself to go out to the shop (we'd run out of cat food) just to prove that nothing catastrophic would happen while I was out. I can't really explain my reasoning behind that, I just felt I had to do it to prove to myself that I was being silly. Spoilt my NSD though!

Feel like I'm coming down with whatever it is that DS2 has :(. That's all I need!

Sorry this all sounds miserable, hopefully I'm just tired! Xx

You need sleep, Lucky, can MIL or Aunty come for the afternoon? And I can recommend meditation for anxiety/panic attacks. I think there are free downloadable apps, but if not please pm me your address and I'll send you a CD, cos DH has got plenty to spare.

As I was drying my hair mid-morning, my sister texted my mum to say she was coming to visit. I texted sis to say me and DH were going out (mum lives with us and none of my siblings offer respite: sis has been asked to have mum on Sundays once a fortnight but it hasn't happened this year). We took ourselves off to the local art gallery where a Lowry exhibition has just opened. We had a lovely time, then went for a yummy Italian late lunch: 3 courses for £9.95, 2 for £8.95. DH had pudding and I sneaked a few teaspoonsful.
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?
  • Sending you the biggest hugs and love I can muster. Wish I could send you some of the soup and bread I just made... made me feel loads better and I feel rubbish!! Nice to hear DS is doing better. Think you need to see the doctor about the panicky feelings hun... When I was 11 I was being bullied. Rising panicky feelings and anxiety about doing normal things became a full on mental breakdown in weeks because I couldn't voice what was going on. I never took any medication so please don't think that I am trying to force you into something like that... just, see someone, explain what is going on and the feeling you can't control and see if you can get some help?

    Be gentle with you... xx

  • Thank you both. I feel better today anxiety wise but really rotten with a banging headache, other aches and cold type symptoms.

Satchmo, I'm so glad to hear you got some time out for youref with OH. It's really not fair that you get so little support from your siblings. Well done on only having a few teaspoons of dessert, I wiuld have had my own if it was only £1 more!!

Lilt, I don't like to think of you being bullied . That's not nice at all. Glad you got help though and thanks for sharing.

DS2 is much brighter today and has even been jumping around pretending to be Rocky!! He has a friend's party today at the hall at the top of the street, which yesterday I was sure he wouldn't be well enough for, but today I think he is. Just not sure if I am well enough for it now, or if I can be brave and send DH!

  • :j for better DS2!

    :( for poorly Lucky!

Definitely need full germ prevention when around kids or people in general. Perhaps you need one of these Lucky! :rotfl:

They come in lots of colours too!! :rotfl:

Look after you though in all seriousness. If you think sending DH to the party will cause you more anxiety than rest then it isn't worth it. If it will give you more rest than anxiety, then do it. It is important you make sure you choose the best options for you and your well being. Like many of the lovelies on your diary have said, you need to look after you as you are the person that looks after your family.

    Have a lovely lovely Sunday!

    October xx

Could your eldest take DS to the party as it's so close? Or ring another mum and ask them to pick him up en route? It's probably too late now.

Hope your headache eases. Honey and lemon with an Aspirin is the best soothing medicine. Lemsip works but isn't as nice.

  • October, I need one of those suits lol :rotfl:.

Satchmo, DH has taken DS2 to the party. I figured it's only at the top of the street and lots of my friends are there to look out for them. I really feel yucky and have enjoyed the last hour and a half on the sofa. I've been reading diaries and chilling, bliss.
