  • Thanks for all the lovely messages everyone :A.

Mr Lucky is back on the planet today (well mostly) so things feel a bit easier. I've actually had a really good day, as I've been for a private reading with a Spiritual Medium. It was a birthday gift from back in September and it was truly excellent. Whether you believe or not, it's made me feel much more positive and has put a lot of things in to perspective.

Grandma is 82 today! She insists we've got the numbers round the wrong way though and she's really 28 :rotfl:.

Annual mortgage statement arrived, I owe under £20k :j and have just over 9 years left. No penalties for over payments or early redemption, so food for thought Xx

Glad that Mr. Lucky is feeling better(ish) today.

Many happy returns to your ever-young Grandma.

Good to know that your mortgage doesn't have any penalties for over payments or early redemption.

Mine is the same, although I've got a bit more to pay, but its not extortionate - although its an endowment (which won't cover the payment). Hence, my learning to live within my means a long time ago.

I was just gearing up to phone and ask what would be the final payment amount. However, at the moment, the job (whole company) is is doubt and don't know if we'll survive. Heavy duty, high level talks are taking place about alternative solutions - of which, we'll be the last to be told :)

I was going to use the mortgage amount to go towards maintenance. But its not really the time to be spending my savings pot.

    Drat!
  • Wow to only having £20k left on the mortgage PLMBL! Were with the H@lifax and they have an overpayment calculator on their website which shows how many years you can knock off with overpayments. Even £20 a month makes a difference xx

V exciting!! Big birthdays (sorry G'ma!! ;)) and a mortgage within finishing distance..

I would do the OPs anyway, especially if you can draw it back without penalty if you needed it. Even a small sum is good.

Glad and v relieved re Mr SA :j

Fantastic news about mortgage - what an achievement, with everything that has been thrown at you this year.

  • Hi all, sorry it's been ages since I posted (again). Think I've got an ear infection (and possibly throat/chest infection too :(). Will go to docs if no better tomorrow. Floored.

    So, to catch up on the last few days;

We have new (to us) sofas! MiL's friend's son (follow that!!) was moving back home, so they were selling some furniture to fit everything in. MiL kindly bought them for us :T. Ours were embarrassingly broken/ripped etc. The room looks amazing now. The council wanted £20 to collect the old sofas but couldn't do it for 5 weeks , so DH and Paramedic Mate used a saw to break them all up and we took the bits to the tip in the back of the car instead :D.

Cleared out DS2's room before work on Saturday so now have some things to eBay/charity shop/tip. Haven't done anything about any of it yet :o.

    Work was bearable.

Went out for Grandma's birthday lunch on Sunday. Grandma paid :A and it was a lovely catch up. As a group of Cousins, we recreated a photo we'd had taken 28 years ago as wee ones :D. Good fun.

DH has been a bit wavy and angry, but otherwise ok.

Boys still at school this week, break up for half term on Friday.

Think that's about it! Happy Valentines Day Xx

Happy Valentines xx What a lovely MIL you have :) So glad grandma was well enough to celebrate her birthday after all the scares. Kids are off school this week in our area.
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)
