That sounds really positive Lucky apart from DH but I can truly sympathise with him!! I hope you both do really well on SW together, with the added motivation of doing it with someone else I am sure it will be more fun :)

Am happy for you on the CBT and the counselling. Fingers crossed you stay how you are but just go into it with an open mind (and mouth) and hopefully you can get the most out of it :)

    Big hugs! xx

I'm glad you had a lovely holiday :D fountains abbey is one of my all time favourite places, I used to love going to brimam rocks also which i think isn't too far away. I plan to take the Hinge's away next year if we can find a nice cottage.

Glad your phone appointment went well and that you are feeling better

    mrs H xxx

It was the first time we've been to Fountains Abbey Mrs H, and we loved it. Such an impressive place, and quite emotional too. Eerie!

We were supposed to go to Brimham rocks afterwards, but the kids were begging to go back to the cottage instead and to be fair we had been at FA for about 4 hours by then. I would recommend the cottage we stayed in too you, but I think the lack of wifi would be a deal breaker for your Superman. Xx

  • DH was confused this morning. He was doing things like putting rubbish in the fridge instead of the bin, and wandering round looking for towels as he had forgotten where we keep them. He has got better as the day has gone on, but he definitely has something going on in his head. It's odd, I only said a few days ago that for the first time in almost 4 years I could actually see him going back to work someday, as the longer he goes without seizure the more 'normal' he is seeming, and then we are right back to square one :(.

I had a phone call from the Carer's Centre offering me Counselling - only been on the waiting list 6 months!! I accepted the appointment, but typical that all the help is coming at once and just when I'm starting to feel better! Don't want to sound ungrateful though, I'll take any help going.

I just popped in to say hi & to say how much I admire you. Dealing with epilepsy can be so difficult until it's stabilised & even then it's living with your fingers crossed.

My son 29 has epilepsy & specific learning difficult. Apparently when it takes longer to stabilise it affects the brain confusion bits without all the problems your OH has after his accident. Like you say some days my S is just odd which sounds mean but he's just neither here nor there. I think that if he tries to think of too many instructions then things end up anywhere or he just forgets everything.

I have everything crossed that your OH remains seizure free regardless of his dorky moments as we call them. Really hope that doesn't offend you.
  • Thank you for posting Fizzy! Dorky movements sounds just the thing to describe it!! Not offended at all, and I'm sorry to hear you and your son face similar difficulties. Xx

Lucky, could DH be extra tired after your lovely holiday?

I also wondered if he is moody because of cutting down on sugar - sugar affects the brain quite significantly, and he might be having withdrawal symptoms?
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?

    Hey missy

Sorry to hear DH is not so good today. :( Would be lovely to think of him going back to work some day!

I like the sound of dorky moments. I have enough of those of my own though ;)

As for all the help coming at once, isn't it like buses? ;) Take what you can get but don't knock feeling better hun. The fact that you did that all by yourself without help is phenomenal but take what you can get and store it up! Hopefully future referrals if necessary will go through quicker now at least so if you need them in the future they will be there at the right time!

As always you are amazing xxx

satchmo _ am officially the moodiest person in the world at the minute because I've cut all carbs due to migraine diet.

Incidentally Lucky, the doc said the ketogenic diet is not only good for migraine sufferers but for sufferers of epilepsy. The official line was that excess sugar/carbs cause stress in the brain and that cutting them out relaxes this and helps clear the stress which causes other problems. I don't know if it applies to DH considering his injury but it may help anyone who suffers of knows a sufferer of epilepsy, like Fizzy

The Epilepsy society are convinced that it has a huge affect on Epilepsy. Definitely stress & tiredness have a big effect on most epileptics. Every single fit my S has had has been on a day like today when he hasn't eaten properly days previously & if he isn't well hydrated.

Dorky moments include him leaving his trainers left in a shoe shop in France, trying to eat frozen chips dos he forgot to turn the oven on but the normal is wearing clothes inside out!!! this should now say #tramp.

Glad to hear support is flowing your way, I sometimes think, you take more in when feeling better, so can understand and reflect on things, to bank understanding and strategies for the future, when life sends a curve ball.

    Hope OH is better today

    Hugs x
