She is virtually ammune as she's only installed two apps from reliable sources. And as I said the bank account needs a card reader.
Again not saying all anti virus is never needed, but they were being deceitful saying she needed to buy what they were offering.
So has there ever been a case of someone buying a tablet from Curry's, where they didn't buy the anti virus they offered and as a result their bank account was emptied. From the way this employee was speaking it sounds like it happens to thousands everyday0 -
I think the sales assistant was using this as an example, there are many other things that can happen too0

The sales assistant was telling lies to get commission.0

They're in sales, it's their job to sell the product they have an interest in selling, of course this involved rubbishing the competition.
If I went to an Audi dealer, their sales person is going to tell me all about why I want to buy this shiny A5 rather than a BMW or Mercedes equivilent, exactly the same situation. OP is being ridiculous.0 -

This comes up time and time again and many Currys staff have posted over the years that they DO NOT get commission so you need to come up with another excuse. Of course it's a sales persons job to make sales and to get as much as possible for each sale but it doesn't mean they get anything more than their basic and probably minimum wage for doing it.
When will people learn to do their research before going shopping instead of expecting sales people to say "no don't be silly, don't spend your money here you can get it much cheaper at (insert competitor here), and the optional add ons are not needed at all in any circumstance"0 -

However, no-one in their right mind would run a windows pc without an anti-virus, would they?
Certainly the chances of picking up a virus on a windows based machine are higher, and if pressed I am sure the Currys salesman would agree, but that does not mean there is absolutely no risk to the tablet he was selling.
Shall we just for the minute, assume that the tablet your mother was buying is not a windows based machine?
It's just that you haven't even told us that.0 -

Well no, if a BMW dealer was saying don't buy an Audi they are not very good and you will crash and die in them I could also call that lies and deceitful.0 -

Initially I was sympathetic to your rant, now you are just acting like a child. Also your mum may be lying about what the Currys rep said to her.0 -

That may be libellous."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0 -
