Currently feeling rather mean
Was asked to contribute to present & hair as well as meal for the birthday girl.
Declined present & hair.
I had already bought a present.

No it's not you. I really don't get all this paying for everything for the 'main person'. I read about what people are asked to contribute to for brides and I just think when did all this become the norm?

I'd be more than happy that people were prepared to spend their money on a night out to celebrate with me. I certainly wouldn't expect anybody to put towards my hair or even the meal - not even for a special '0' number :eek: xx

It's not you thats crazy! It's you that's sane Contribute to her *hair*? That's just odd. And as for contributing to her present, if they'd communicated better, you wouldn't have gone through the processes of finding and buying a present individually, you'd have let them take the strain (I hope ). Since they didn't tell you in time, you've bought your own.

No it’s not you - I’m horrified..... you’ve done the right thing

Next weekend we are going out with friends twice to celebrate as it’s a milestone one :eek: and we are paying for everyone....

I do think it is OTT.
I know she is skint but to be blunt so am I.
The other people's financial circumstances are very diffent to mine:o xx

This is an old friend of 26 years standing but really............
I had no idea hair was a thing
Luckily I was asked by messanger or I would have laughed.

The book is called 'What You Pay For' by Claire Askew.
Enjoying it. My usual crime
