Seasidegal58 said:Sorry to hear of the money troubles beanie. I live on my own and budget £160 per calendar month for food - £40 per week but my weeks consist off 8 days rather than 7 owing to the extra week that pops up occasionally during the year. That sum is only used for food - I budget £25 per month for non-grocery items like laundry, cleaning products, batteries, etc and some months are under and other months over this amount so roll it forward.I used to have a monthly Ocado delivery and top up with fresh food as needed but in order to walk more I now take my trolley and walk to Aldi as it's so cheap, and other times walk to Waitrose to buy the things I can't get in Aldi. I also like my local greengrocer's produce but I wouldn't say he's particularly cheap. Other times I top up either in my little local Tesco or Co-op if needed.I am a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Mortgage Free Wannabe & Local Money Saving Scotland & Disability Money Matters. I’m so pleased you had a lovely Christmas 🎄
Good luck with tackling the budget Beanie. I think it’s disgusting you have to pay so much for the help you received….
Do Asd@ deliver near you? I’ve been shopping there quite a lot recently even though I have M@rris@ns around the corner. I ended up with £40 Christmas bonus just for doing my normal shopping. Might be worth looking at it if they do.When are they doing your kitchen ?January spends - £587.583 -

I got my monthly single grocery budget down to £140-£150 per month but COL means it’s now more like £170 pm plus maybe £10pm bulk and cleaning /toiletries are in a separate pot
I am also gluten free so that means it’s all more expensive as most YS reduced items have wheat in
I also live in London so I think £45-£50 pw is doable as a single person
I eat meat and i cook a lot - especially beans and pulses - the pressure cooker is so helpful and also makes a quick stock
Can I suggest you join the Grocery Challenge as it really helps me and lots of us on there all learning from each other .DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.
