I'm very low user with my mobile and happy enough with Tesco, they don't make me do monthly top ups.

Hi SailorSam do you have a 3g phone to be able to use TESCO mobile?

Ypaymore, What is the charge for texts on "whitemobile" please?
I'd not risk White Mobile, you will see the websites down yet again.

If you have a 3g phone 3 is probably best for you if you get a decent signal

White will send you a free SIM with some credit on so that you can try it here

Next best rates for someone with a non 3G handset.

THANKS:beer: I have filled in the form to request a free SIM (but it doesn't mention anything about there being credit on it.)

I'm fairly sure that there will be some credit on the SIM when you get it, to enable you to register on the network. I have used them since just after they launched long before 3 announced their 321 plan when I had finally had enough of Orange's pathetic service. Never had any problems and the rates and coverage suit me just fine.

When I was looking at Tesco Lite, a few months ago, the in store salesman said it would be ok on my phone, which is an old basic Nokia (over 5 years old).

I've just noticed, on another thread, that you can get a £15 sim bundle free from Sainsburys via special promotional packs of Kelloggs.

With a top up of £10 with 3-2-1, could I make about 330 minutes of calls or is part of the cost to cover air time ?
What's air time, if not the time you spend talking ?
