  • I think the wanting to buy another coconut shower gel when you have fifteen in the stash is fairly easily explained, it's the simple fact that you love the scent. When you see another one you have to find out how coconutty that one is, and how it measures up to the others. Equally it could be because you like the scent but have never found one that was really exactly what you wanted.
When I am shopping for clothes I have to have a sharp word with myself quite often as I want to buy items that are near identical to something I already love and wear.
Of course there are items that are exactly what you want, that you can buy more than one of. Some of these may be in shops you visit (or visited) weekly.
This explains why I have thirty pairs of Primarni's Sloggi - type knickers, the marvellously comfortable ones that wash like dishrags, dry in a trice and never wear out.... I haven't bought any in two years though.
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.

I know what you mean, my family used to laugh at me as I was forever on a quest to find the perfect crisp cotton white shirt - somewhat under control now, though I find myself still automatically browsing when shopping for other things.

I also love the smell of grapefruit, and have tried every shower gel, soap and lotion I've come across. Still working through the stock. Still not find the perfect 'one' LOL!
No buying unnecessary toiletries 2014. Epiphany on 4/4/14 - went into shop to buy 2 items, walked out with 17!

    Hi ladies,

I'm struggling to keep on top of things at the moment, work is busy and life feels a bit in turmoil - builders are back in doing more work and all a bit chaotic and depressing tbh!

So I'm sorry I won't have a chance to remember everything I wanted to say, but... hope all are well/feeling better, welcome to all the new faces, and Sam.4000 please don't leave us!

I too think I will never be in a position to completely eradicate my stash - I like having a variety and panic when I don't have at least one spare in reserve. I would, hoever, like to get it more under control, and I'm working really hard to do so - but seem to have lost my mojo a bit lately, feeling a it meh about everything.

I have a couple of small UUs:

5/269. Matrix Biolage Hydrotherapy Shampoo 7ml - probably WNB, hard to tell from such a small sample but they were lovely, though expensive I think. Lots of hair stuff stashed so will not be buying anytime soon.

6/270. Matrix Biolage Hydrotherapy Conditioner 7ml - as above.

My hair's in fab consition at the moment, even my hairdresser commented. I'm crediting the Tigi and Paul Mitchell items I bought in the Regis sale... my hairdresser sell the PM shampoo for £14 and I got a set of shampoo, conditioner and serum for just £8 on sale - so feeling very happy about that, hadn't realised quite how bargainous it was!

I need to report my Kiehl's INs too, so here goes:

1/210. Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cleanser 75ml - needed a back-up as all my others are balms/HCC so no good for gym etc

then I got the following freebies:

    2/211. Kiehl's Ultimate Strength Hand Salve 30ml

    3/212. Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Eye Serum 3ml

    4/213. Kiehl's Grapefruit Hand & Body Lotion 30ml

5/214. Kiehl's Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution 1.5ml

    6/215. Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cleanser 3ml

    7/216. Kiehl's Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate 1.5ml

I hope FizzWhizz is ok, she seems to have been gone a long time. We've lost lots of veterans recenlty - anyone heard ftom KT2802, luvlycake or moneylessmac?

Good evening ladies. Only a quick post as our PC here at home is temperamental and will probably shut down on me.

    2 more UUs:-

Philip Kingsley conditioner - very impressed by this little tube but I won't repurchase. Haircare is something I don't tend to splurge on.

Elemis PCMC - down to the last pot and after researching the Elemis kits on offer at the moment it looks like MrM will succumb to buying the TSV because of the value. Unless of course there is a fabulous discounted offer that comes up before then.

Take care ladies. Am logging off to repaint my finger nails. Think I'll use OPI Scores a Goal.

Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

Evening all. This evening I had to listen to a one hour training update and was desperate to have a nice relaxing bath. So I am now updated on a recent legislative change you will have seen in certain newspapers, AND I have a UU. How is that for one evening?

UU: Neom tranquility bath oil 5ml. Love this, smells gorgeous and really does it's job, I'm yawning already!

I'm in the middle of lots of products so not many UUs, but I'm working on pampering. Unfortunately I have a wonderful bump and bruise on my forehead after slightly head butting the car boot lid which, together with sinusitis, is making facial product usage very painful. Honestly you can't take me anywhere....!
  • Morning everyone! Have another couple of UU's to report:

    - Lush Eau Roma Toner - WBA, and already have, love this stuff.

    - Urban Decay De Slick Setting Spray - WBA, it's the only thing that helps me look decent for a few hours at least after putting makeup on. Took advantage of the Debenhams sale and re-ordered plus a mini of the all nighter to try as some have said that's better.

On a related note; I've always had problems applying blush to the point where blending it caused my entire cheeks to look bright red! But no fear, I have found the solution - Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge in Powder Pink applied with a stippling brush before applying powder. It looks so lovely and natural, stays all day and I never what to use another blush again!

Need to read back but still being good and not buying any non-essentials unless items have been used up and they are one I would like to keep using. Waiting for my Mascara's to finally run out so I can get the No7 one I like. Had a S&G one in the boots kit but not a fan, I find it runs easy

Got a Latest in Beauty box with a couple of extras...

IN – Sanctuary Spa – Resurface and Refine Ultra Polish x 2
IN – James Read – Sleep Mask Tan
IN – Philip Kingsley – Dailly Damage Defence
IN – Laura Mercier – Foundation Primer
IN – Eyeko – Mascara Off Eye Make Up Remover Wipes
IN – Maybelline – Colorsensational 'Tantalising Taupe'
IN – Bourjois – Volume 1 Seconde Mascara

    9/11/14
    UU – Rihanna – Rebelle
Suprisingly a nice smell considering I don't like the idea of 'celebrity' scents.

    10/11/14
UU – Paco Rabanne – Black XS
Nice smelling but a little too musky (is that the right word?) for every day use.

    My BB arrived :D

    IN – Dr. Jart+ - V7 Cleansing Foam
    IN – O.P.I. – A Grape Affair!
IN – Lord & Berry – Mini Bronzer 'Sienna'
IN – Beauty Protector – Protect and Detangle
IN – English Laundry – Signature For Her

    11/11/14
    UU – Thierry Mugler – Angel *
WBA – Lovely smell and even though it was only a magazine sample the smell lasted hours!

UU – Nivea – Extra Gentle Eye Make-up Remover
Have another in my stash. This is my favourite 'cheap' make up remover and I try to grab it whenever it's on offer.

    12/11/14
UU – Calvin Klein – Down Town *
WNB – It wasn't really strong enough to tell if I liked it or not so I'd have to try it again.

UU – Juicy Couture – Viva La Juicy Noir *
WBA – This is such a lovely fruity smell. I want it! I can't stop sniffing myself!
New to this money saving lark. Any tips greatly received.

No Buying Unnecessary Toiletries 2018 - Not going well!!
  • I picked up a posh mini shampoo & conditioner from a hotel at the weekend :o It seemed a shame not to!

I also got given two mascaras which don't work for my mum. They actually work great on me, so I'm pleased!

I finally let go of two mascaras though - one Daniel Sandler - although did the job I just never reached for it and it's been lingering in my box for over 4 years. Time to go. Also chucking Miss Manga mascara - totally rubbish, went flakey after 3 months.

Used up St Ives face scrub. I love that stuff.

Picked up a replacement blusher while I was at a counter - hate shopping online for makeup, I find it so hard with the shades and finishes. This one is a good'un so I know I'll use it.
