Aaahh.
Reading threads like this makes me so glad I no longer motor trade.
Bad engine
Bad customer
It's like a perfect storm0 -
yeah i'll go for a ford fiesta or something... i'm sure the wife will be happy with that.
Only one way to find out. But now you have me thinking, Ford or French? Now I know some Fords have the same Sh it engine that you have but I'd have to go Ford every-time in a heartbeat. Good luck getting it all sorted out tomorrow- keep us posted of your progress/decision.0 -
OP - if you go in with guns blazing and silly bits of stuff you have printed off the internet, you may find yourself frog marched off the forecourt.
How about going in to see them, explain the warning light came on adn ask for it to be read/cleared so it can be monitored?
But to be honest, you sound like a right tit of a customer and I'd probably refund you just to get rid of you.
Don't but Frenh... Buy something like, erm a Fiesta with the 1.6[STRIKE]HDi[/STRIKE] TDCi engine..0 -
yeah this is the salesman who upon meeting him told me 'i wouldn't by a french car they're always full of trouble... then saw we had pulled up in a 407' i can safely assume what the attitude is going to be like
Can't say the Salesman wasn't honest.
And no an engine warning light in itself is not a reason to reject.
The cause of the light might be.0 -
regardless of your opinion on the mechanical merits of a car brand... the car clearly has a fault, one that developed within hours of driving off the forecourt, and yes i'm sure they'll bend over backwards to fix it... but my faith in this company after doing a full 'service' on the car before i picked it up has gone well and truly down the swanny...
thankfully.. i've also been in touch with some other people who have provided me with the necessary documents to provide tomorrow.
Everybody and their dog knows that the 1.6 diesel lump as fitted to PSA Group, Fords and Volvos is a hand grenade with the pin pulled.
Just a case of when it goes off.
In this case going by later comments the Eloys Fluid has either not been filled, ECU not reset after the additive tank was filled.0 -
I think also the OP has no real idea what a car service is.
And seems to think no problem will develop after a service.
Didn't know an oil and filter change could make such a difference. Even if they also changed the fuel and air filters at the same time.0 -
it wasn't purchased as a money saving option, and i'm not sure what your thing about french diesels is... i'm running a fleet of renault master vans which have never given the slightest hint of trouble, we've got a 407 sw, high mileage, not a hint of problems... this is a low mileage vehicle, shouldn't be anywhere near falling to bits (although i understand it does happen)
i've had more issues with two mercs than i've had with any pug, renault or citroen... although that's purely down to the fact the computers are such a bloody nightmare on the w203 onwards
Renault Master is made by Vauxhall.
And if you run a fleet of Renault Masters then you will be well versed at changing clutches, failed DMFs and gearbox issues. Half the ones I have driven (oldest being 4yrs old) had the EML light illuminated continuously so the fitters just ignored it as it made no difference to the way it ran.
The 1.6 diesel engine is made in Dagenham, apart from the Volvo version apparently which are made elsewhere.
In fact the 3.0D lump as fitted to large PSA Group vehicles, Jaguars and Land Rovers is also made in Dagenham as was the older 2.7.0 -
OP comes across as a probable troll.0

Misfiring could also be as simple as spark plugs or coil pack.
none the less some of you guys should stick to motoring advice and not consumer protection advice since so much of what's posted on ops rights is quite simply incorrect.0 -
