My advice would to be polite and ask the dealer to check the car over and fix the reason for the EML light to have come on.
They must be given the opportunity to fix.
Demanding a refund straight off is sure to prove counterproductive.
You don't know what the fault is - it could be one of a dozen things - possibly completely unrelated to the servicing.
The EML light coming on does not mean that the service they did was incorrect / incomplete / or not done at all.0 -
DPF on a 7 year old French Diesel.
Yep, thats what they do.
They will probably put it in regen mode on the software, this runs a sequence and all is well again until next time.
Buying diesel cars to "save money" is now no longer a very smart money saving option.
It's up to 10p litre more expensive, the DMF fall to bits every 60-70 thousand and now they have the DPF that is a non stop source of amusement.
Money saving the expensive way.

rejection letter, the appropriate parts of the sales of goods act for my case, the dealers trade associations rules regarding such matters, and now i'm printing off the faults from the ECU... which they can then reverify with a code reader on site.
Maybe it would have been an idea to include the faults in your opening post

it wasn't purchased as a money saving option, and i'm not sure what your thing about french diesels is... i'm running a fleet of renault master vans which have never given the slightest hint of trouble, we've got a 407 sw, high mileage, not a hint of problems... this is a low mileage vehicle, shouldn't be anywhere near falling to bits (although i understand it does happen)
i've had more issues with two mercs than i've had with any pug,renault or citroen... although that's purely down to the fact the computers are such a bloody nightmare on the w203 onwards0 -
i'd be happy if it just needed a run through, but trying a simple regen didn't work i know the merc needs a good run out to clear the pipes. but this is showing as misfiring... that's a headache that i can't be bothered with.. could be anything from the timing belt to simply a faulty egr valve, which is time in a workshop.... not what the car was purchased for.0

By some twist of fate you do manage to get your money back. Don't waste it on a PSA 1.6 hdi engine again, they're notorious for going wrong.
I had the 2.0 hdi 136 for a couple of years and that was bad enough and it's suppose to be more reliable than the 1.6.0 -
Just read your bit about it being a low mileage model, explains alot. Previously owner probably traded it due to the dreaded anti-pollution fault on the dash.0
