    I've been Money Tipped!
Right! Got a bit more essay marking done (not loads though) and bathed kids, they're all asleep. I'm going to blitz our room now - made a good start earlier today / yesterday, but I want to FINISH something. I want it perfect and sparkly by the time I go to bed! Then will start on landing / stairs hall if time. I'm going to do it with a glass of wine and watch something on the laptop while I do it. Here goes - flying evening ahead!
  • Hi - quick catch up whilst I have much needed coffee!

Vol job 1 very busy - home by 1:30 then lunch and a quick prog catch up and a nap!!! Then typed up 30 ish jokes and am now cutting out 30 ish ghost shapes in card for the jokes. have made DH a cape and me a shawl and a skirt - need some pins or tacking to make it fit better - all out of the fabric that you put down for weed control!!!! Brill stuff - doesn't fray!

Still got to tweak stories but have most of the day tomorrow - and still trying to find my mo-jo to get going on them!

Prob won't catch up tomorrow - but LW how do you pronounce Samhain please - I saw it as sawin in wiki - is that correct? I try to be accurate.

    Take care xx

Challenge Update: It's taken me five days to work out how to do it, and then to actually do it, but the dressing gown lining is in the shell. There is finishing off to do - the top corners, the bottom of the sleeves and the hem, plus Karen will have to do the buttonholes because that's above my paygrade. I won't get all of my share done tomorrow but I will have, almost within the month, a dressing gown that I will enjoy wearing. The difficult bits are done. I am so chuffed! I've probably made it several times over with all the unpicking I've made myself do to get it right, but I now understand why I failed my needlework O level and I think I've acquired the skills that had I done so at 15, I'd have passed. A little late, but worth the wait as far as I'm concerned.

    Bossy, I find it almost impossible to machine in a straight line, but one thing I've definitely learned on this project is to s _ l _ o _ w ___ d _ o _ w _ n.
    Better is good enough.

    Hi all

We've been out all afternoon for a family get together. Just what I needed. Kiddies had a ball with their playmates, and I had lots of coffee and "family counselling".
Day at home tomorrow. Beds to strip and remake, ironing to do for school next week, and hopefully will be dry enough to play out and collect some leaves.

Think I'll go look at the lists and see what else might need doing. I have some winter prep to sort...

LW sorry your appointment was painful, really hope they can help though xxx

Hi jttu I pronounce it Samhayn, although not sure if it's the correct way though. I've been pronouncing it that way for almost 15 years now and so far no one has said it's wrong..lol Hope that helped :D

  • Hi all - thread a bit quiet this evening. I did LOTS of bedroom decluttering, per advice a couple of days ago. And for once, I have DONE THINGS ON THE LIST - woo! :j

Thursday Thrills ~ Master bedroom and landing
    15 minutes...
Check fire alarms are working, but don't burn the toast to check though!!!
[STRIKE]Remove wash and replace with clean the bedsheets and duvet cover[/STRIKE] - did it on Tuesday
[STRIKE]Open the window and let in some fresh air![/STRIKE]
    30 minutes to spare...
[STRIKE]Clear the floor of clutter[/STRIKE].. the landing too!
    Wash the windows
    [STRIKE]15 minutes floordrobe clearance[/STRIKE]
    Got an hour...
    [STRIKE]Clear out one cupboard/wardrobe that needs it[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]Turn and vacuum the mattress - do you need that winter duvet yet?[/STRIKE] - did it on Tuesday
[STRIKE]Dust all those spider webs away.. you can't keep them for Halloween!!!![/STRIKE]

[STRIKE]Fill a binbag for charity shop![/STRIKE] - 16 handbags, 5 necklaces, 2 pairs shoes, 3 purses, 2 blankets decluttered from our room
    [STRIKE]Wash any curtains/duvets/cushions that need doing [/STRIKE]

I had a total revelation while doing the bedroom. Usually I struggle with housework because I feel like I HAVE to finish a room, COMPLETELY. Windows cleaned, hoover under bed, sheets done, everything. If I haven't finished it, I come back to it the next day - while the rest of the house descends into chaos. I know I should know this by now, but I realised I don't have to finish it, because it will come round next week. I was about to get the window cleaner out at 9@30pm, and thought, 'no! Stop! You can do it next time this room's on the list!' So I will move on, and do something on another room next time I have time for housework. Hopefully this will keep the whole house more clean, rather than one room perfect, and the other rooms in gradual stages of chaos!

Absolutely right, sushistar :j Not every bit of cleaning needs repeating every week, and the room will become progressively easier to keep clean and tidy. That's why I frequently get away with only doing my dailies! - today, for example ;)

I spent this morning typing up notes from a meeting and getting them in some semblance of order (it was a very disordered meeting), then - at my friend's request - I bought fish and chips for us both and ate lunch with her. For once, OH had to make his own scrambled egg and get the bus into town to his committee meeting. I sat with my friend for a couple of hours and at one point told her very firmly that she is going to be taken to hospital by car when she has to attend clinics or chemo - she is not to rely on hospital transport. To my great surprise, she agreed with no argument. That speaks volumes about how ill she feels and how bad her journey home was yesterday.

Then I did a big shop to use my second @ld1 voucher, and now my cupboards, fridges and freezers are bursting at the seams and a pile of tins and packets is ready to be taken to the food bank collection point over the course of the next couple of weeks. Hopefully I shall only need milk and bread next week.

This evening I have managed to put in my expenses claim for my voluntary job (we get a petrol allowance) and went to choir practice, but that is all.

Tomorrow promises to be quite warm with a little sunshine, so I shall go out in the garden and finish planting the bulbs.

(((Hugs))), spoons and sticks to all who need them, especially bossy and LW
