Cheap hotels/Guest houses Birmingham.

Hi all. I'm looking for a good deal on a hotel (or similar) in Birmingham - near to New Street station if possible. Planning to go there for 1 or 2 nights ( August 3rd and 4th).
I'll be travelling solo, so ones without these 'billy no mates' surcharges would be most appreciated.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Ps - wow, i can't quite believe i've been registered on this forum for over 4 years now. Time does fly!

Stayed in this place the other week, about ten minutes walk from new street down the Bristol Road. V cheap and cheerfull but its only been built for about a year so its still quite clean and fresh.

Rooms are £35 per room - wether its booked for one, two or three people - rooms have a double bed with a bunk bed above and tv/loo/shower.

For a cheap and easy nights stay it wasn't bad at all.

Thanks. I'll be checking it out.

It seems (just like with holidays) the price for the same room and the same place on the same dates can vary wildly depending on who you book through.

Oh dear. It looks like the place i was going to book is booked up. Does anyone know if there are any big hotel thingies in the centre of Birmingham? (as they are normally the cheapest).

Just found a Travel Lodge. It seems the best price is £76 for 2 nights. Does anyone have any promo codes so i could get it cheaper? Or any better places.

Not much good now...but travelodge dont do codes, they just do rooms for £15 if booked in advance and there was loads available in Birmingham...maybe next time.

Actually Travel lodge is a complete rip-off. It's actually £76 per night as i have to pay for 2 people. So that brings it to a complete no-no of over £150 for 2 nights.

I finally got that website to work. Though currently the thing putting me off that place is the latest review on trip-advisor (22nd July 2007). It says something about the room being 'gone through', money stolen and card keys not working.
So currently this place is on my 'only if there's nothing more suitable list'.

There's a Crowne Plaza (not a 5*) near to New Street. Rack rates are quite expensive, but i've seen very cheap deals on laterooms occasionally

Certainly not a rip off if you had booked in advance and payed £15 for a room...not per person and like I said they were available.

The central travelodge is still available at £49 for the 3rd and £76 for the 4th...£62.50 per night for central hotel is not to bad at this late stage.

Broadway plaza is £66 per night and as with all travelodges the price is per room

Had a work friend stay here one night a few weeks back, and the same happened to them while they were asleep in the room!
