I have no idea who Dave Brooker is btw but the risk re paypal for collection only to me is the lesser risk - as a pensioner living alone i'd rather have that risk than the risk of threats and physical intimidation i've had before or someone taking the item and not paying me anything (aka theft). I'll be asking for signature anyway and taking a photo of the item (a sofa) loaded in any case , and tho that might not satisfy paypal it might satisfy the Police if the worst happens.
I have no problem paying ebay fees, they have provided a service to me I'm happy with.0 -

Make sure you get their address so that if you have to go down the Small Claims route you can send the forms to them.
Cash would have been simpler.0 -

As JeffUk says you need the name and full geographic address of the person who collects if you ever need to use small claims it migh tnot necessarily be the same person whose account bought the item , no need for photos- that is a complete red herring.
As for fees, it wasn't the ebay ones people were talking about it is the paypal ones as they can be quite hefty.
Dave Brooker is a regular on here who often accuses me of being so blind about paypal that I encourage its use when I shouldn't I think he would be shocked to see me now saying you were foolish to accept it. As for intimidation, you are correct in that any thug using paypal would not need to intimidate you- as all they need to do is go home and claim their paypal payment back due to non delivery. It could still get intimidating though as many have found if buyer decides to claim item wasn't as expected- and demands you refund and then does a bank claim on the basis of item not matching description.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Thanks for all your measured advice Soolin. I don't mind paying paypal fees either as they are also providing me with a service i'm happy with. I already have an address for buyer via paypal , he only lives a few miles away and we've spoken on thephone, he's been an ebayer for 10 yrs with 100% feedback on 45 items in last 12 mths so I don't anticipate any problems, the only problem ive ever had previously - and I have sold collection only after paypal before - in 11 years using ebay was the cash on collection incident i've mentioned0

Let's hope it's only the fees you pay.0 -
A seller who insists on paypal for collection items and a buyer who insists on cash - both the wrong way round.
Wonder what the odds of you two ever meeting were.
