Don't forget to wait until the NPB process is closed on the first person before you sell it to someone else. As it stands the first sale has already run up fees which you will need to reclaim.

Personally I would prefer cash on collection over PayPal and posting any day, but each to their own . I am assuming this is an item that is going fully tracked via the post by the way.

Ebay were really good guiding me through process and fees are being reimbursed. Paypal affords better protection imho.

You are of course entitled to your opinion, and regulars will know that I have actually been accused of working for PayPal in the past as I am so pro PayPal- but I do not consider it safer than cash on collection.

You are posting your item though aren't you, fully tracked , this isn't a collection only item. Is it?

I am intrigued as well with what process eBay guided you through. An NPB can't be stated until day 2 and closed 4 days later.

I've had a bad experience with pay on collection when buyer + 2 turned up and he offered much less than his successful bid but I was too frightened not to agree so i'll neve rput myself in that predicament again.

The item was collection only because of its bulk.

Ebay went through the pros and cons of cancelling transaction vs raising unpaid item case plus possibility of second chance, so I went for cancellation+second chance and the original buyer quickly agreed to cancel and so I got immediate confirmation from ebay of refund of fee. Sale to second chancer is only ~£1 less and will hopefully go through without a problem.

Am I right in reading that you have sold an item to be collected from you in person but you are adamant that you wanted payment to be made by Paypal - whoops! :rotfl:

You do realise that by cancelling the sale with the buyer you cannot add a strike to thier account as you wanted to do ?

Also by accepting paypal for a collection only item you leave yourself wide open to the INR scam. As far as i am aware paypal offers no protection to sellers for items that are not posted tracked.

So you want Paypal for a collection only item?

**Potentially** you can take your Paypal payment and that buyer can collect the item, go home and claim non-delivery 2 weeks later.

Where is your tracking number to claim the buyer has the goods....?

And, although your buyer paid £5 more.... how much did you pay in sellers fees that you could have avoided paying??

    Some people are TSFE.

You sound like a nightmare seller quite frankly.

If you are too frightened of someone who is trying barter at the door then you should not be selling items in that manner, end of. It's human nature for some people to try and barter - it is wrong , but it happens, if you cannot deal with that then you should not be selling on there.

Also, by taking Paypal for collection only items you might find yourself a week later with no money AND no goods when a scammer spots this in your listing. You are leaving yourself wide open to being scammed - and you are worried about reporting someone for making you an offer??

    As I said. TSFE.

Insisting on paypal for a collection only item - where is Dave Brooker when you want him.

OP, I am tempted to be less than polite here as I am honestly absolutely stunned that anyone could fail to understand how to protect themselves from scammers . Frankly though words that MSE would expect me to use, fail me- I can only really really urge you to read up on seller protection and if you don't trust yourself with cash- then to walk away from ebay and paypal and just donate your stuff to a charity shop instead.

I understand you don't want our advice but I feel the need to try once more- this is MSE and the last thing I want is for someone to be scammed on such a common scam, I'm not saying you will be, but unless you understadn the risks you may well be in the future.

    Read this about seller protection:

and this about collection only issues which reinforces the poit abotu paypal:

I'm double posting here as I am seriously worried about this and want to ensure that other sellers reading this understand that paypal on colelction is a huge no no.

Regulars know my views in that I believe paypal make is obvious enough how risky it is to use- but for anyone unsure please just look at the top of your paypal received emails, and in your transaction history. The paypal email I have just received (and they vary slightly) says clearly :

This item is eligible for Seller Protection.
    Don't forget to:
Send the item to the delivery address below within 7 days.
Please note: items delivered in person or to a different address are not covered by Seller Protection.
Use a trackable proof of delivery.

OP's a dinosaur. ebay top rate customer and a dying breed.

viva la ebey community ethics JD would be proud lol

Seriously to the OP. there is no ebay community. Ebay is a hard line capitalist and a ruthless business. Using ebay is for lining your own pocket not ebays. They will use and do use media and propaganda to manipulate a buyers/sellers thinking.

Anything that makes ebay more money, they will tell you to do it. They are looking to protect there interest in the long run not yours.(it has never been registered as a charity lol )
