I've had an offer to sell before end of auction and want to report it but I'm just going round in circles ad nauseum on ebay trying to find how to do it
So was it a bad offer or a good offer?
Why would you want to report someone to Ebay who could potentially be a customer?
Just politely respond that you have had a number of interested parties and would like to let the auction run to be fair to all concerned.

As others have said there aren't any rules preventing someone making an offer, unless there was anything untoward about their message that you haven't specified.

If it's cash on collection, it would work in your favour as there are no ebay fees :)

I have regular asked sellers if there is a buy it now price. No harm in asking!

Unless there is more to the story, I think you are over reacting...

Yes that's why I want to report it! "We don't allow our members to use eBay to contact each other to make offers to buy or sell items outside of eBay."
    Quite.

The salient point is highlighted and confirms what I wrote above.

Making an offer to trade via eBay is within eBay rules.

Why on earth would a buyer prefer to complete a deal outside eBay? Selling outside eBay only benefits sellers as they save on fees and it reduces the buyers protection.

    Do elaborate.
  • All you do is reply saying " Sorry I'm letting the auction run to the end. However you are more than welcome to bid on the item in question"

    Easy.

well if you follow that link I provided you'll see that you are wrong there re making an offer. I'm happy to leave it to ebay to decide if I'm prim or not if I can ever find a way of contacting them.

The fact that you can't find a way to contact ebay about this problem should tell you just how unimportant ebay regards the issue and exactly what they will do about it. Nothing.
