Create a tax disc

Would anyone like to have a go at creating a document file of a blank Vehicle tax disc, that other MSEa can use to create their own tax discs as a reminder on the windscreen...?

I found a website that will create one for £6.99 in any original style you like,

But I think a basic black and white one done on a printer will do fine... if you can create one that has the exact colours scheme so much the better, then people can use a colour printer if they have one.

I'd like it to be round, the same size as the original disc. and I'd like it so that we can just enter our own date into the expiry date field. and our own Reg No. and our own price and car make...

If you can think of a way to do this, it would be very helpful.

Otherwise we would have to use things like photoshop to create the disc/date we want.... but I don't use photoshop.

Each to their own, but this seems like a complete waste of money to my mind. If you want a reminder for next year outside of what you would be sent, there must be better ways than this. If you really want a tax disc on your windscreen, why not just leave the old one in?

    I echo the WHY?

If you want a reminder, set one in your calendar of choice. But even that is pointless since DVLA will send you one anyway.

If you do want a reminder, and want it on your car, why stick it in the windscreen (facing outwards as before, presumably) where you can't see it yet it obstructs your view slightly?

Why not just write it on a piece of paper and stick it to your dash, somewhere out of the way but visible to you?

Prize for most pointless idea of the week? You don't even need to be reminded. You can set up automatic payment when it's due if you want to. As others have said, DVLA still send out reminders.

Would you believe that there are also people who think it is a pretty neat idea to try to recreate currency notes? You'd be able to put a serial number of your choice on them, too. That would be so much more of a challenge than a mere vehicle tax disc.

It's the last thing I would want. It was something of a ceremonial occasion when I removed the tax disc from my car on the 1st October. I really can't abide clutter in my field of vision and now that I have a clutter free windscreen, driving is far more pleasurable.

    Don't you have a calendar?

And as has been said, DVLA send a reminder.

Why don't some people think before posting here?
I think this job really needs
    a much bigger hammer.
  • It is probably also illegal to display an imitation one. I shall be removing mine at the end of the month when it expires (already renewed) as it probably won't be wise to display one with an expired date. I think I can live with the blank space in its holder.

I do, but I don't use it for reminding me
And as has been said, DVLA send a reminder.
Which may or may not arrive,
And which is only sent once, a few weeks before renewal.
I find myself regularly checking my windscreen throughout the year to remind my self when it expires.
Why don't some people think before posting here?
    Why don't you go @ yourself ?

Now then, if anyone who knows how, would like to have a go at creating a blank disc with data information fields in the right size fonts, I would be very happy and I'm sure if it's good enough quite a lot of people would use it.

    :)

    P.S. it's not illegal.
