I don't know where to begin with this Conrad. You aren't a stupid man but here we with the cobblers you used to promote Scottish Nationalism again.

Japan and South Korea are client states of America. They house the largest concentration of US troops in the world and have governments that answer to Washington before their own people. Japan never stopped being an occupied country for goodness sake.

Australia had a panic attack after the Brits joined the EU and begged to become a client state of America. New Zealand is dependent on Australia. Switzerland is a dodgy tax haven for corporate despots that is the only European country to legislate against foreigners.

Norway is oil and therefore dollar dependent and Iceland is a volcano.

you totally misunderstand what sovereignty and independence means

we are all totally and utterly dependent upon the light from the sun but that doesn't mean we can't aspire to controlling our immigration policy.

Cry me a river. British construction workers have priced themselves out of the market due to rip-off pricing and shoddy work.
It's a global world out there. Compete or perish.

you don't support compete or perish : you support obeying EU rules whatever they are or indeed will be.

Great. Have fun explaining that to your pals in the UK Independence Party.

I suspect as long as it involves less foreigners and more narrow minded bigotry either way they will be happy.

You love a straw man don't you!

What exactly does the EU prevent you from doing? In what way are you oppressed by them?

Oh oh, me next, tell me what I think, feel, support, and believe!
If you think of it as 'us' verses 'them', then it's probably your side that are the villains.

given your often expressed views about the wonders of the EU, about faux racism etc it is a wonder that you abandoned all these benefits to go live in a small little country of 23million without any of the benefits of rule by unelected collective of failed European politicians.
Think about it : you have the burden of deciding your own spending and taxation policies, your trading policies, your immigration and foreign policies, whether to have siphonic flush systems or valve operated, what level of biofuels to burden the world with.
Just look at the burden that must be placing on your limited resources.
And what does the future hold : more of the same; you will probably be doomed to retain trial by jury of your peers whilst we can look forward to integration of our legal system with European judge led system.

And let's reflect how you left one of the least racist and misogynistic country in the world, to live in one that, by common consent is probably the most racist and misogynistic 'western' style country.

Like all those 'London' Scots that wanted to have an independent Scotland whilst never dreamt of actually living there, you wax lyrical about the wonders of straight bananas whilst enjoying the bendy ones elsewhere.

judge by the action of people rather than fine words.

    Hung up my suit!
Nu-labour had racists policies such as ethnic minority only shortlists and openly admitted its "social engineering" open door policy when the accession countries came in.

I look forward to seeing you post a single racist policy from UKIP.

Indeed, Labour have been racist against the white English more than any other people. Vote UKIP !! ;)

The EU believe that so many are happy with them that they have billed us for 2 billion Euros to help bail them out.

Back to Labour where they came from in the first place, I expect.

    ...Iceland is a volcano.

Well yes, but being a volcano has its advantages. I think it's technically known as 'geothermal power'.
